Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00092 | $0.01060 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00037 | $0.00424 |

Grade A, and why
code-smells-expert scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 81 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Code Smells Expert Skill
Overview
This skill performs structured technical debt audits to identify, classify, and diagnose design flaws known as "Code Smells". It acts as a Senior Software Architect and Technical Debt Diagnostician, grounding assessments in the Fowler/Beck taxonomy. Its primary mission is pure diagnosis and impact analysis, explaining why structural flaws impede maintainability, extensibility, and testability before any refactoring begins.
When to Use
Trigger Scenarios
- Conducting architectural code reviews and technical audits.
- Identifying violations of SOLID principles (especially Single Responsibility and Open/Closed).
- Preparing for refactoring by cataloging structural friction points and antipatterns.
- Explaining why a component is difficult to test, understand, or extend.
When NOT to Use
- Applying code changes or executing refactoring: Route to
refactoring-code-expert. - Security and vulnerability scanning: Route to
security-audit. - CPU and memory performance profiling: Route to
performance-scalability. - Writing new unit or integration tests: Route to
test-driven-development.
Process
Phase 1: Automated Static Analysis
Execute the AST-based smell detection script on specific files or target directories:
python3 ./skills/code-smells-expert/scripts/detect_smells.py [optional_path_to_file_or_directory]
The tool flags threshold violations for method length (>30 lines), class size (>300 lines), parameter count (>4), and nested conditional depth.
Phase 2: Structural Review via Fowler/Beck Taxonomy
Review classes, methods, and dependencies against the five major smell categories:
- Bloaters: Long Method, Large Class, Primitive Obsession, Long Parameter List, Data Clumps.
- Object-Oriented Abusers: Switch Statements / Type checks violating OCP, Refused Bequest, Alternative Classes with Different Interfaces.
- Change Preventers: Divergent Change (one class modified for multiple unrelated reasons), Shotgun Surgery (single change requires modifying many classes).
- Dispensables: Comments explaining what rather than why, Duplicate Code, Dead Code, Speculative Generality.
- Couplers: Feature Envy (method accesses another class's data more than its own), Inappropriate Intimacy, Message Chains.
What ships with it
2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

code-smells-expert is a skill published in the GitHub repository jggomez/expert-ai-developer-skills (30 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 92 tokens to every session and 1,060 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-06.
