kubernetes-resource-engineering

kubernetes-resource-engineering is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from joao-aires/agent-skills-public. It costs 39 tokens per session (723 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Kubernetes resource engineering skill for creating and maintaining the configuration that runs applications and infrastructure. Kubernetes is a system that schedules and manages workloads across machines; Helm and Kustomize help generate its configuration.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to design or review workloads, networking, storage, secrets, resource limits, Helm charts, Kustomize overlays, and rendered deployment targets.
Why use it?
It helps catch unsafe defaults, unsupported versions, broken dependencies, and differences between the configuration written and the resources actually rendered.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00039 $0.00723
Opus 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00289
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00145
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00072

Security

Grade A, and why

kubernetes-resource-engineering scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Kubernetes resource engineering

Design the resources as a connected application in the actual target. Follow selectors, references, ports, identities, configuration and storage from the workload to the objects it depends on. Establish which controller owns desired state and which values each environment overrides; the effective rendered resources are the ones whose behavior needs review.

Assess the lifecycle as well as the shape of each object. Decide how the application starts, becomes ready, accepts traffic, drains and recovers, then check whether probes, rollout settings, resources and dependent jobs support that behavior. A copied base manifest or successful schema check cannot establish those relationships by itself.

Modes and context

  • Interactive/setup: discover cluster/version/controller capabilities, workload requirements and local policy; explain tradeoffs and implement resources in the chosen structure.
  • Feature/maintenance: update workload/config/network/state dependencies and every impacted rendered target while preserving unrelated environments.
  • Recurring review: render supplied target variants, audit secure-default and semantic drift, prepare bounded patches/tests, and retain exceptions/unknowns as stable findings. Apply/prune/cloud mutations only under assigned target authority.

Establish Deployments/jobs/stateful/infrastructure roles, target namespace, image identity, ports, identities/secrets, storage, dependency flows, availability/resource budget, reconciliation owner and expected deletion behavior. Verify supported API/CRD versions and actual CNI/admission/runtime features. Consult the resource guide for deeper implementation details.

Workflow

Define the resource contract

Concern Define in the selected manifests/chart structure
Organization Coherent common bases/templates, explicit target overrides, stable labels/selectors and typed/documented inputs. Distinguish required decisions from safe defaults.
Workload security Compatible least-privilege identity, pod/container security, immutable images, protected configuration/secrets and narrowly exposed ports.
Network Explicit allowed and denied flows, including DNS, collectors, controllers and external dependencies.
Resource and lifecycle CPU/memory/storage, startup/drain/recovery, probes, rollout, replica capacity, disruption budgets, topology and scaling ownership.
Jobs and retained resources Deadlines/retries/concurrency/timezone, storage retention/reclaim, infrastructure deletion policy and recovery/access paths.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

kubernetes-resource-engineering is a skill published in the GitHub repository joao-aires/agent-skills-public (2 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 39 tokens to every session and 723 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-15.
