fiskistofa

fiskistofa is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from jokull/icelandic-data. It costs 32 tokens per session (236 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool for public fishing-area map layers from Iceland’s Directorate of Fisheries. The layers show current closures, regulations, spawning areas, and other fishing restrictions through a standard web map service.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to list and download active closure and restriction layers for mapping, monitoring, or geographic analysis.
Why use it?
It provides machine-readable access to restrictions that might otherwise need to be viewed on a map. Because the data shows the current state, saving snapshots is needed to build a history.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is uv run python scripts/fiskistofa.py list.

It runs from inside its repository, so the clone comes first — what it calls does not travel with the file alone.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00032 $0.00236
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00118
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00047
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00024

Measured 7d ago against content hash 6f6624ef7c51, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fiskistofa scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Fiskistofa — Directorate of Fisheries

The public Hafsjá GeoServer exposes current fisheries restrictions and areas.

API

WFS: https://gis.is/geoserver/fiskistofa/wfs

The primary layer is virkar_skyndilokanir (active rapid closures). Other virk_*/virkar_* layers include active regulations, spawning areas and fishing-area restrictions.

Usage

uv run python scripts/fiskistofa.py list
uv run python scripts/fiskistofa.py fetch

Caveats

  1. These WFS layers are current state, not an event history; snapshot them to preserve closure history.
  2. Fiskistofa's REST Gagnaveita covers catches, quotas and vessels but requires paid OAuth access and restricts redistribution. It is deliberately excluded.
  3. Date fields carry Z but may be dates rather than instants.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fiskistofa is a skill published in the GitHub repository jokull/icelandic-data (52 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 32 tokens to every session and 236 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
