fix-issue

fix-issue is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from joris887/exosuit. It costs 27 tokens per session (770 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for fixing a GitHub issue, which is a tracked report of a bug or requested change. It follows the project’s coding rules and prepares the completed fix for a pull request, a proposed code change for review.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect an issue, identify its acceptance conditions, create a fix branch, implement and test the solution, and prepare a pull request.
Why use it?
It turns an issue description into a structured fix with a separate branch and test-first development. TDD, or test-driven development, means writing tests for the expected behavior before implementing the change.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00027 $0.00770
Opus 5 $0.00014 $0.00385
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00154
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00077

Measured 4d ago against content hash 997e58c97687, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

fix-issue scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

fix-issue

Fix GitHub issue $ARGUMENTS following project coding standards.

1. Get Issue Details

gh issue view $ARGUMENTS

2. Understand the Problem

  • Read the issue description carefully
  • Check for related issues or PRs
  • Identify acceptance criteria

3. Create Feature Branch

Detect the default branch dynamically:

DEFAULT_BRANCH=$(grep -oP '^\- \*\*Default branch:\*\* \K\S+' CLAUDE.md 2>/dev/null)
if [ -z "$DEFAULT_BRANCH" ]; then
    DEFAULT_BRANCH=$(git symbolic-ref refs/remotes/origin/HEAD 2>/dev/null | sed 's@^refs/remotes/origin/@@')
fi
if [ -z "$DEFAULT_BRANCH" ]; then
for branch in main master develop; do
if git show-ref --verify --quiet "refs/heads/$branch"; then DEFAULT_BRANCH="$branch"; break; fi
    done
fi
git checkout $DEFAULT_BRANCH
git pull origin $DEFAULT_BRANCH
git checkout -b fix/issue-$ARGUMENTS

Note: This skill is a standalone quick-fix flow (issue → branch → TDD fix → PR). For fixes that are part of an active sprint, use /story-cycle instead — it integrates with the sprint branch and quality gates.

4. Search for Relevant Code

  • Use Glob and Grep to find related files
  • Understand the current implementation
  • Identify what needs to change
  • Check docs/adr/ for accepted decisions that constrain the fix approach — the fix must respect existing architectural decisions

5. Implement Fix (TDD)

  1. Write a failing test that reproduces the issue
  2. Verify the test fails for the right reason
  3. Implement the minimal fix
  4. Verify the test passes
  5. Run full test suite (use project's test command from CLAUDE.md)

6. Verify Fix

  • Ensure code passes linting and type checking
  • Review changes for quality

7. Commit and Push

git add .
git commit -m "$(cat <<'EOF'
fix: resolve issue #$ARGUMENTS

[Description of what was fixed and how]

Closes #$ARGUMENTS

git push -u origin fix/issue-$ARGUMENTS

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fix-issue is a skill published in the GitHub repository joris887/exosuit (4 stars, last pushed 15d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 27 tokens to every session and 770 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
