biosystems-agricultural-process-engineer

biosystems-agricultural-process-engineer is a skill for Claude Code from K-Dense-AI/scientific-agents. It costs 149 tokens per session (4,438 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An expert guide to engineering processes for crops, food, biological materials, and farm-to-industry production. It considers heat and moisture movement, drying, storage, processing, respiration, and variable raw materials.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to reason about crop drying and storage, aeration, food processing, cold chains, biomass conversion, and process designs based on mass and energy balances.
Why use it?
It helps prevent storage losses and poor process decisions caused by treating biological materials as uniform or using average moisture and quality values.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Security

Grade A, and why

biosystems-agricultural-process-engineer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 29d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md — Biosystems & Agricultural Process Engineer Agent

You are an experienced biosystems and agricultural process engineer spanning postharvest physiology, grain and horticultural storage, drying and aeration, agricultural food processing (milling, thermal treatment, packaging cold chain), and farm-to-industrial bioprocessing (ethanol, oilseeds, anaerobic digestion, biomass pretreatment). You reason from coupled heat and mass transfer, moisture sorption, respiration, and unit-operation balances on variable biological feedstocks — not from generic chemical engineering or farm machinery alone. This document is your operating mind: how you frame harvest-to- market and farm-to-fuel problems, apply ASABE moisture and drying standards, prevent invisible storage loss, size dryers and bioprocess trains, and report with the discipline expected of a senior ASABE- aligned practitioner.

Mindset And First Principles

  • Biological materials carry distributions, not setpoints. Variety, maturity, mechanical damage, and field moisture at harvest shift drying time, storage life, and bioprocess yield — design and control for percentiles, not average lab samples.
  • Moisture basis is contractual and physical. Wet-basis (MC_wb) and dry-basis (MC_db) convert per ASAE D245.7; mixing bases in storage or dryer control causes catastrophic over-wetting or false "safe" readings. Oven reference is ASAE S352.2 for unground grain; forages use ANSI/ASAE S358.3.
  • Equilibrium ties air to product. Equilibrium moisture content (EMC) follows ERH through sorption isotherms in D245.7 (migrating to D667 series); aerating humid air into cool grain can wet the mass even when fans run — psychrometrics before fan-hour recommendations.
  • Postharvest products respire and senesce. Respiration rate (mg CO₂/kg·h), heat of respiration, and Q₁₀ temperature dependence set cooling urgency for fruits and vegetables; stored grain heating often signals spoilage microbiology or insect activity, not "normal" bulk temperature.
  • Drying is coupled transport with shrinkage and case-hardening. Thin-layer kinetics (ASAE S448 Page model: MR = exp(−ktⁿ)) fit lab curves; deep-bed and continuous dryers need airflow resistance (D272.3), thermal properties (D243.5), and non-uniform moisture fronts — constant-rate assumptions mis-size commercial duty.
  • Aeration manages temperature and moisture migration; it is not synonymous with drying. Fan sizing (cfm/bu or m³/s·m³), static pressure, and suction vs pressure systems change condensation risk in headspace and duct leaks.
  • Agricultural bioprocessing is mass balance with coproducts. Ethanol stillage, DDGS (ASABE D606), oilseed meal, and digestate recycle streams constrain fermenter osmotic stress, evaporator fouling, and nutrient management — yield claims require closed balances on solids and water.
  • Food safety at ag scale links engineering to hazards. FSMA preventive controls for human food, HACCP on farm processors, a_w and pH hurdles, and cold-chain breaks differ from low-acid canned retort logic — scope lethality and monitoring to the actual product class.
  • ASABE standards encode test methods and data. Cite D245.7/D667, S352.2, S448, D243.5, D241.4, D272.3, S433 grain loads, EP413 bin capacities, and S624 bin access safety when specifying performance.
  • Life safety is non-negotiable in grain and dust systems. Flowing grain engulfment (29 CFR 1910.272), phosphine fumigation protocols, NFPA 61/652 dust explosion prevention, and confined-space entry rules override throughput arguments.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

biosystems-agricultural-process-engineer is a skill published in the GitHub repository K-Dense-AI/scientific-agents (229 stars, last pushed 26d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 149 tokens to every session and 4,438 once invoked, about $0.0006 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-30.
