「生命的意义是什么」是无边界问题，Naval 给出三层递进答案： ① 私人的——意义只能自己找；任何人（包括佛陀）给你的答案听起来都像废话，重要的不是答案而是带着问题挖掘； ② 没有意义——宇宙尺度下，你做的事都会褪色、人类和文明都会消失，所以「你必须创造自己的意义」； ③ 熵的意义——生命是局部熵减系统，在加速宇宙熵增/热死亡；你的创造（艺术/家庭/科学）在宇宙尺度上是在把万物推向「最终成为一个东西」。 两个推论：
- 意义=愿意受苦——「你真实的履历只是你痛苦的目录」，有意义的事都是你有所牺牲的事；
- 拥抱死亡——承认必死（而不是逃避）反而带来意义与平静；生命如黑夜中的萤火虫一闪，所以用最积极的方式演绎它。
