gstack-design-review

gstack-design-review is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Kevin-Liu-01/Agent-Machines. It costs 64 tokens per session (2,203 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of design-review, MIT.

A structured design and usability audit based on how people scan and use interfaces. It examines pages with usability checks and gives letter grades across multiple design areas.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to audit websites and apps, test common user journeys, identify high-impact design problems, and verify visual fixes.
Why use it?
It reveals confusing layouts, unnecessary choices, unclear content, and other issues that can make an interface hard to use.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00064 $0.02203
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.01102
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00441
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00220

Security

Grade A, and why

gstack-design-review scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Design Review — Audit, Fix, Verify

UX principles from Steve Krug's "Don't Make Me Think."

Contract

This skill guarantees:

  • Structured design audit with letter grades (A-F) across 10 categories
  • AI Slop Score as standalone headline metric
  • 6 usability tests on every page (Trunk Test, 3-Second Scan, Page Area Test, Happy Talk Detection, Mindless Choice Audit, Goodwill Reservoir)
  • First-person narration mode (anti-slop: if you can't name the specific element, you're generating platitudes)
  • Before/after screenshots for every fix
  • One atomic commit per fix
  • Findings sorted by impact (High > Medium > Polish)

UX Principles: How Users Actually Behave

The Three Laws of Usability

  1. Don't make me think. Every page should be self-evident. If a user stops to think "What do I click?" — the design has failed.
  2. Clicks don't matter, thinking does. Three mindless, unambiguous clicks beat one click that requires thought.
  3. Omit, then omit again. Get rid of half the words on each page, then get rid of half of what's left. Happy talk must die. Instructions must die.

How Users Actually Behave

  • Users scan, they don't read. Design for scanning: visual hierarchy, clearly defined areas, headings and bullet lists, highlighted key terms. We're designing billboards at 60 mph.
  • Users satisfice. They pick the first reasonable option, not the best. Make the right choice the most visible choice.
  • Users muddle through. They don't figure out how things work. They wing it.
  • Users don't read instructions. Guidance must be brief, timely, and unavoidable.

Billboard Design for Interfaces

  • Use conventions. Logo top-left, nav top/left, search = magnifying glass. Don't innovate on navigation to be clever.
  • Visual hierarchy is everything. More important = more prominent. If everything shouts, nothing is heard.
  • Make clickable things obviously clickable. No relying on hover states for discoverability.
  • Eliminate noise. Fix noise by removal, not addition.
  • Clarity trumps consistency.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
