systems-manager-development

systems-manager-development is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Knuckles-Team/systems-manager. It costs 65 tokens per session (1,655 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A development guide for a Python connector that lets an agent inspect and manage parts of a computer, such as processes, services, storage, and networks. It also covers the connector's server boundary, documentation, testing, and release work.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps maintain host inspection and lifecycle operations, provider integrations, the server and command-line interface, packaged skills, documentation, and release checks.
Why use it?
It gives developers a defined structure for changing the connector without placing storage, deployment credentials, or unrelated responsibilities in the wrong component.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00065 $0.01655
Opus 5.5 $0.00026 $0.00662
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00331
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00166

Security

Grade A, and why

systems-manager-development scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

systems-manager development

systems-manager is a Python connector that exposes governed host inspection and host-lifecycle operations through the Agent Connector SDK. Keep the provider's runtime boundary narrow: package operations, service/process/network/disk inspection, storage health, managed-file policy, and typed host telemetry belong here; durable graph storage, Arbora admission, and deployment credentials belong to their owning systems.

Repository map and real entry points

  • systems_manager/mcp_server.py creates the systems-manager FastMCP server, registers the OS and storage tool surfaces, enforces policy and approval gates, and exposes the systems-manager-mcp console script.
  • systems_manager/systems_manager.py owns the cross-platform manager classes, platform detection, validated host operations, and the systems-manager CLI. systems_manager/__main__.py delegates python -m systems_manager to that CLI.
  • systems_manager/os_provider.py contains the cross-platform provider seam; systems_manager/os_provider_tools.py registers process, network, snapshot, service, trace, and kernel-module tools.
  • systems_manager/storage_health.py and systems_manager/storage_tools.py implement the read-only SMART, RAID, BMC drive-health, and storage tool seam.
  • systems_manager/connector_sources.py declares the live connector source and schema mappings. systems_manager/ontology/ carries the data-only ontology, mappings, shapes, fixtures, and migration manifest.
  • systems_manager/skills/ contains packaged skills. The operations skill is at systems_manager/skills/systems-manager-operations/SKILL.md; this development skill is packaged beside it. agent_data/ and prompts/ are also package data.
  • tests/ contains the unit and MCP contract tests. In particular, tests/test_default_content_surfaces.py verifies that packaged skills, ontology, and prompts remain discoverable through the server.

There is no systems_manager/agent_server.py in the current source tree. Do not document or invoke that stale path; the MCP server entry point is systems_manager.mcp_server:mcp_server.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

systems-manager-development is a skill published in the GitHub repository Knuckles-Team/systems-manager (3 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 65 tokens to every session and 1,655 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-27.
