oh-my-design: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/omd-update/SKILL.md

omd:update is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from kwakseongjae/oh-my-design. It costs 52 tokens per session (466 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An in-place updater for an existing oh-my-design installation, a collection of design skills, agents, hooks, and reference files for coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when asking to update, upgrade, refresh, reinstall, or check an oh-my-design installation. It verifies the result and stops when local changes need manual review.
Why use it?
It keeps the installation current while protecting the project's existing design guide, user references, setup scope, and files outside the installation's ownership.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for Claude Code and Codex: installed under .claude/, but also agents/openai.yaml present. Also seen: mentions Cursor.

This is kwakseongjae/oh-my-design's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on oh-my-design itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything oh-my-design configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00052 $0.00466
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00233
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00093
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00047

Security

Grade A, and why

omd:update scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Update oh-my-design

Update only the OmD installation the user already has. Preserve its project/global scope, installed channels, Cursor compatibility mode, DESIGN.md, references added by the user, and every file outside OmD ownership.

Workflow

  1. Run from the intended project root unless the user explicitly requests the global installation.

  2. Use the latest package as the executor:

    npx oh-my-design-cli@latest update

For a global installation, append --global. For another project root, append --dir <path>.

  3. Never add --force. The update command detects installed channels, preserves the existing scope, refreshes managed files, and runs the equivalent of a post-update doctor check.

  4. If the command reports a protected local difference, stop. Show the exact scoped repair command or manual action it prints; do not overwrite the file on the user's behalf.

  5. Report the before/after state, preserved scope and channels, and any skipped drift. Do not claim success if the exit code is non-zero.

  6. Tell the user to restart the coding agent, then run:

npx oh-my-design-cli@latest doctor --self-test

## Safety contract

- Do not switch project ↔ global scope.
- Do not install channels that were not already installed.
- Do not enable proof policy, hooks, or Cursor Agent Skills that were previously absent.
- Do not update deprecated MCP configuration.
- Do not use `--force`, delete drifted files, or replace symlinks automatically.
- Do not edit `DESIGN.md` or product files during an OmD update.

If no installation exists, explain that this is a fresh install and use `npx oh-my-design-cli@latest` only after the user confirms installation intent.
Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
