kx-textinput

kx-textinput is a skill for Claude Code from KxSystems/kx-skills. It costs 61 tokens per session (1,716 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A skill for creating a KX Dashboard text-entry control, such as a search field, filter, symbol box, or multiline text area. The entered value can be sent to dashboard state or used to trigger actions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add single-line or multiline text input to KX Dashboards and connect the value to ViewState, data-source reruns, or other actions.
Why use it?
It explains the required dashboard bindings and the difference between text entry and other controls. It also accounts for actions that run when the user presses Enter or leaves the field.

Skill enables autonomous high-impact decisions without human-in-the-loop verification. Critical operations (destructive commands, financial transactions, data deletion) should require explicit user confirmation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00061 $0.01716
Opus 5 $0.00030 $0.00858
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00343
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00172

Security

Grade A, and why

kx-textinput scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

key: "BasicComponents" · definitionId: "33" · ComponentName: "TextInput" · version: "v2.9.0"

A single-line (or multiline) text entry box. The typed value is published to a ViewState via Basics.Text and/or via Actions on Enter/focusout.

Other BasicComponents input controls have their own dedicated skills — use those, not this one:

  • kx-button — clickable action trigger (definitionId: "25")
  • kx-datepicker — calendar date/time selector (definitionId: "15")
  • kx-selectioncontrols — radio buttons / checkboxes (definitionId: "34")

⚠️ Hazards — Read First

  1. Basics.Text accepts a ViewState binding — to publish user-typed text to a ViewState use { "_dashboardsType": "viewstate", "value": "<vsName>" }, not a plain string.
  2. Actions fire on Enter keypress AND focusout — use them to trigger data source re-execution or ViewState maps after the user types.
  3. Type: "multiline" switches the input to a <textarea> — the fixedHeight / height fields control its size.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
