refresh

refresh is a skill for Claude Code from kyle-chalmers/ticketwright. It costs 44 tokens per session (629 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Maintain the repo's knowledge. The index mode rebuilds the ticket catalog (INDEX.md) and the context mode rebuilds the domain knowledge pack (documentation/). Day to day, hooks keep both fresh automatically.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00044 $0.00629
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00252
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00126
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00063

Security

Grade A, and why

refresh scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 43 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

/refresh

One maintenance skill for the two knowledge stores the other skills read:

  • /refresh index — the ticket catalog: tickets/INDEX.md (every ticket, status, one-line summary, tags, cross-refs) + tickets/OBJECTS.md (object → tickets reverse map). This is what /ticket's recall mines. Details: index.md.
  • /refresh context — the domain knowledge pack in documentation/: data catalog, DDL, ERD, dependency graph, business glossary. This is what /ticket's domain + warehouse priming reads. With no warehouse seam, the pack is the glossary + domain notes built from tickets and repo docs (the introspection phases skip cleanly). Details: context-pack.md.
  • /refresh all — both.

You rarely need this

Day-to-day the index maintains itself: the PostToolUse hook re-renders INDEX.md on every ticket folder change, the SessionStart hook surfaces the catalog, and /ship curates each ticket's summary at close. Invoke /refresh to:

  • bootstrap an existing backlog (/refresh index --all — render every ticket, then enrich);
  • re-enrich a batch after bulk edits (/refresh index ID1 ID2 …);
  • build or update the knowledge pack (/refresh context, scoped to a schema if given; --refresh updates in place — overwrite, don't sprawl).

Mode: index

Follow index.md: render deterministically (tools/build_ticket_index.py — stdlib, no model), enrich the un-enriched/stale set (the model writes one curated record per ticket, ingested via tools/ingest_index_records.py), re-render, then verify with --check and commit the whole index together — INDEX.md, OBJECTS.md, index_data.json, and the graph layer (tickets/graph/ + tickets/objects/) when project.graph_notes is on (the default).

Mode: context

Follow context-pack.md: verify each configured warehouse target, introspect via its adapter (inventory → DDL → dependencies → usage ranking), generate data_catalog.md / erd.md / glossary.md into documentation/ with freshness stamps, and update documentation/AI_LAYER_INDEX.md. Don't invent business meaning — flag glossary gaps for a human (reduce_assumptions).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

refresh is a skill published in the GitHub repository kyle-chalmers/ticketwright (4 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 44 tokens to every session and 629 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-07.
