mac-finder

mac-finder is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from leionion/ClawForge. It costs 57 tokens per session (254 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A macOS helper that opens a chosen folder in Finder, Apple's file-browsing application. It expands home-directory shortcuts such as `~` and checks that the path is an existing folder.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to open project folders or common locations such as Desktop, Downloads, Documents, Applications, Pictures, Music, and Movies.
Why use it?
It avoids manually opening Finder and navigating through folders. It also catches invalid paths before trying to open them.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00057 $0.00254
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00127
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00051
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00025

Measured 3d ago against content hash 909174395ce1, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

mac-finder scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (mac_finder.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

mac-finder — Open Finder at a Directory

Opens Finder and navigates to a specified directory path. Supports ~ expansion and validates that the path exists before opening.

Usage

# Open a specific directory in Finder
python3 mac_finder.py "~/Downloads"
python3 mac_finder.py "/Users/benson/Desktop"
python3 mac_finder.py "/Applications"

Common directories

Name Path
Desktop ~/Desktop
Downloads ~/Downloads
Documents ~/Documents
Pictures ~/Pictures
Music ~/Music
Movies ~/Movies
Applications /Applications

How it works

  • Expands ~ to the user's home directory via os.path.expanduser
  • Validates that the path exists and is a directory
  • Opens the directory with open and activates Finder via osascript
Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
