threejs-spectral-ocean

threejs-spectral-ocean is a skill for Codex from linegel/threejs-complete-set-of-skill. It costs 54 tokens per session (2,437 once invoked), scanned A, original, ISC.

A guide for generating broad offshore ocean surfaces with spectral FFT cascades in Three.js, where FFT is a fast method for combining many wave patterns.

In plain words
What is it for?
It supports wind seas and swell, transported foam history, bounded CPU surface queries, and offshore forcing for a separate coastal-water model.
Why use it?
It helps represent a varied directional sea efficiently while identifying cases that need a different model, such as coastal flooding, breaking waves, or three-dimensional water motion.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.02437
Opus 5 $0.00027 $0.01218
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00487
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00244

Security

Grade A, and why

threejs-spectral-ocean scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/fft-convention-oracle.mjs), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Spectral Ocean

Build a dimensioned random sea from directional variance density to one displaced, shaded surface. The spectral domain is a horizontally homogeneous periodic patch with one mean depth and one dispersion relation per cascade.

1. Gate the representation

Choose from the required observable, not the desired look:

Observable Owner
A few authored modes or exact cheap CPU queries Parametric waves in $threejs-water-optics
Bounded disturbances or explicit walls Bounded heightfield in $threejs-water-optics
Broad stochastic directional sea This spectral FFT skill
Depth-varying refraction, diffraction, breaking, run-up, or wet/dry fronts Coastal branch in $threejs-water-optics; this skill may supply offshore forcing
Overturning, entrained air, jets, or three-dimensional vortices External free-surface solver

Select FFT cascades only when the visible wavelength band contains enough independent modes that direct summation is more expensive or visibly repetitive. Record the visible wavelength interval, footprint, tolerated phase/slope error, periodic repeat distance, interaction needs, and measured storage budget.

Complete when: one row owns every required water observable, and every rejected row has a stated validity or cost reason.

2. Freeze the spectral convention

Use metres, seconds, radians per metre, and radians per second. Declare:

  • stable horizontal physics frame and water datum;
  • patch length, resolution, Delta k, represented radial band, and guard band for every cascade;
  • inverse-transform sign, normalization, and centered-index correction;
  • gravity, mean depth, surface tension, density, and uniform current;
  • spectrum family, direction convention, seed, and cascade power windows;
  • one coefficient/state clock and one render-surface owner.

The required inverse convention is

f[j] = sum_n F[n] exp(+i 2 pi n dot j / N).

If the implementation uses a normalized inverse, rescale coefficient initialization rather than tuning the sea afterward. Current is a separate water velocity and Doppler term; atmospheric wind never becomes water current.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

threejs-spectral-ocean is a skill published in the GitHub repository linegel/threejs-complete-set-of-skill (6 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed ISC. It adds 54 tokens to every session and 2,437 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
