chain-a

chain-a is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from lorem-dev/skillkeeper-test-repo. It costs 12 tokens per session (334 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A coding-agent skill at the start of a two-step dependency chain. Installing it should also install chain-b and chain-c, in that order.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is used to test transitive dependency resolution, installation order, namespaced skill identities, and clean lint results.
Why use it?
It verifies that dependency installation follows the full chain, including indirect dependencies, instead of checking only the first level.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00012 $0.00334
Opus 5 $0.00006 $0.00167
Sonnet 5 $0.00002 $0.00067
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00033

Security

Grade A, and why

chain-a scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

chain-a

The head of the only multi-hop chain in this repository. Installing it must pull in requires/chain-b and requires/chain-c.

What this fixture covers:

  • The strict, namespaced skillkeeper.requires field, which is the spelling every new skill should use.
  • Transitivity. One hop would be satisfied by a resolver that only looked at direct references; two hops are not. chain-a -> chain-b -> chain-c is the shortest chain that proves the install order is a closure rather than a single lookup.
  • A reference naming a skill's resolved identity (requires/chain-b), not its directory path. The two happen to coincide here because this repository has no skillkeeper.repo.yaml; a name or group override would move the identity and the reference would have to follow it.

Expected behaviour

skillkeeper skill install requires/chain-a --agent claude installs three skills and prints one line per dependency:

Skill installed: requires/chain-a -> ...
Skill installed as a dependency: requires/chain-b -> ...
Skill installed as a dependency: requires/chain-c -> ...

repo lint reports nothing for any member of the chain. It is the positive control the negative fixtures in this group are read against.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

chain-a is a skill published in the GitHub repository lorem-dev/skillkeeper-test-repo (2 stars, last pushed 11d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 12 tokens to every session and 334 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
