agent-builder

agent-builder is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from majiayu000/claude-skill-registry. It costs 40 tokens per session (4,868 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for creating and fixing Claude Code subagents, which are specialised AI assistants that handle defined tasks. It covers their instructions, available tools, model choice, and delegation between agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to design a new subagent, improve its system prompt and configuration, troubleshoot invocation problems, or plan agent chaining.
Why use it?
It helps when an agent behaves incorrectly, cannot access the right tools, or lacks clear instructions. It also explains when to use a subagent instead of another Claude Code feature.

These are SkillSpector’s own severities. On a checked sample its high-severity flags on skills were ~96% false positives — a documented command, a public API, a “never do X” rule — so we show them as a caution to read, not a verdict. Why →

  • high Data Exfiltration · line 373
Code or instructions that leak agent conversation context to external services, potentially exposing sensitive user interactions.
Fix: Remove any code that sends prompts, responses, or session data externally. Preserve user privacy; never exfiltrate conversation content.
  • medium Rogue Agent · line 13
Skill establishes unauthorized persistence across sessions via cron jobs, startup scripts, or state files. Session persistence allows an attacker to maintain access beyond the current interaction.
Fix: Remove any persistence mechanisms (cron jobs, startup scripts, state files). Skills should not maintain state across sessions without explicit user consent.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00040 $0.04868
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.02434
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00974
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00487

Security

Grade A, and why

agent-builder scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Creating Effective Subagents

Step 1: Identify the Use Case

Good candidates for subagents:

  • Complex, multi-step workflows
  • Specialized expertise (debugging, security review, data analysis)
  • Tasks requiring focused context
  • Repeatable processes with specific quality bars
  • Code review and analysis workflows

NOT good for subagents (use Skills/Commands instead):

  • Simple one-off prompts (use Slash Commands)
  • Context-aware automatic activation (use Skills)
  • Quick transformations or formatting

Step 2: Design Agent Scope

Best practices:

  • Single responsibility - Each agent does ONE thing exceptionally well
  • Clear boundaries - Define what's in/out of scope
  • Specific expertise - Don't create "general helper" agents
  • Measurable outcomes - Agent should produce concrete deliverables

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
