dcf-valuation

dcf-valuation is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from microsoft/cat-agent-skills. It costs 134 tokens per session (1,934 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A discounted cash flow (DCF) valuation model, which estimates a company's value from the cash it is expected to generate in the future. It produces an Excel workbook with financial formulas, sensitivity analysis, a reverse DCF, and readiness checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build a DCF, test discount rates and terminal growth, run a reverse DCF, and assess whether the model is ready for use.
Why use it?
It puts valuation assumptions and calculations in a reviewable workbook instead of relying on disconnected calculations. Sensitivities show how the result changes when key assumptions change.

About the project

microsoft/cat-agent-skills is a static website that catalogs reusable instruction sets and related packages for AI agents. People use it to search, filter, rate, and download skills for Cowork, Copilot Studio, and Scout, along with Copilot plugins and Scout automations. The catalogue entries are the skills, instructions, plugins, and settings displayed by the site.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00134 $0.01934
Opus 5.5 $0.00054 $0.00774
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00027 $0.00387
Haiku 4.5 $0.00013 $0.00193

Security

Grade A, and why

dcf-valuation scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

DCF Valuation

Build a defensible discounted cash flow model as an Excel workbook, with calculation integrity and decision readiness reported as two separate verdicts.

When NOT to Use

  • Comparable-company screens or precedent-transaction analysis with no DCF — outside this skill's scope.
  • LBO sponsor returns — use lbo-model; filling an existing three-statement template — use 3-statements. Merger/accretion-dilution analysis — outside this skill's scope.
  • Internal budgets, forecasts, expense trackers, or any non-valuation spreadsheet → use xlsx
  • Reviewing or fixing an existing deck → use pptx
  • General finance questions with no model deliverable — answer inline

Workflow

1. Preflight: source discovery (once per session, cache the result)

Check only the sources needed for this request, once per session. User-supplied inputs come first; do not enumerate connections or call Power BI when they suffice. For sources still needed, check what is reachable before assuming anything:

  • powerplatform-ListConnections — is there a usable connection at all?
  • powerplatform-FindConnectors — look only for what a DCF needs: a live Excel read (shared_excelonlinebusiness), and any market/financial data source.
  • Note availability of Power BI (pbi_fabricaihub-*) and Dataverse for internal actuals.

There is normally no market-data connector. When none is reachable, fall back to host-web_search and label every market input as web-sourced with the retrieval date. Never present a web-sourced figure as if it came from a data feed.

2. Intake: new workbook or update in place

If the user attached or named an existing workbook, ask once with core-AskUserQuestion: build a new dated workbook (reads theirs as input, leaves it untouched) or update theirs in place (preserves their formatting and downstream links, but overwrites a live file). Never guess — guessing "update" is destructive.

If nothing was attached, do not ask. Build fresh.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
