review-skill

review-skill is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from mixpanel/ai-plugins. It costs 99 tokens per session (1,511 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A quality review for Agent Skills, which are reusable instructions that guide coding agents. It checks a skill against a detailed checklist and gives it a score.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review, score, audit, or decide whether a skill is ready to merge.
Why use it?
It helps reveal unclear instructions, unnecessary content, portability problems, and safety issues before others rely on the skill.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00099 $0.01511
Opus 5 $0.00049 $0.00756
Sonnet 5 $0.00020 $0.00302
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00151

Security

Grade A, and why

review-skill scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 116 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Skill Review

Reviews a skill's quality against a rubric derived from the Agent Skills specification, team review standards, and community best practices. Produces a percentage score and a prioritised list of issues to fix.

This is a read-only, single-skill review. Do not modify the skill being reviewed.

The bar is high. A skill that merely "works" is not good enough — it must be portable, lean, unambiguous, and safe. Score conservatively (see Scoring discipline). Most first-draft skills should not score above 75%.

Conciseness is a first-order concern, not a nicety: every token a skill loads competes with live conversation context. Assume the agent is already capable — a skill should keep only what the agent cannot derive, and cut what it already knows.

Components

Rubric dimensions

The rubric evaluates 8 weighted dimensions. Read references/rubric.md for the full check definitions when running the evaluation.

# Dimension Weight
1 Spec Compliance 10%
2 Description & Triggers 15%
3 Structure & Readability 15%
4 DRY & Portability 20%
5 Safety & Data Integrity 10%
6 UX & Communication 10%
7 Domain Expertise 10%
8 Content Quality 10%

Scoring

Each check is scored PASS (1.0), WARN (0.5), FAIL (0.0), or N/A (excluded). All checks have equal weight within their dimension. See references/rubric.md for the full scoring formula and score caps.

Score Meaning
95-100% Ready for merge
85-94% Minor issues — address before merge
70-84% Significant issues — needs rework
50-69% Major structural problems
0-49% Fundamental redesign needed

Scoring discipline

The score must reflect a demanding reviewer, not a generous one. Adopt the stance of a seasoned editor or investigative journalist: assume the author is beside you and will push back, so go after the single weakest claim, not the average. Nothing earns praise by default; the skill earns each PASS. Apply these rules to every check:

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
