Translation tuning: English → Spanish

Invoked as /pela:en-es [tone]. The arg is optional.

• tone: one of neutral (default), friendly, formal, casual

Parse args for this value (case-insensitive). If the token doesn't match, ignore it rather than erroring — treat unmatched input as ordinary user context to consider alongside the translation.

Naturalness

• Prefer idiomatic phrasing over a word-for-word rendering, especially for fixed expressions and greetings.
• Match formality to the source: informal "tú" for casual/spoken source text, "usted" for formal/written register, unless the target locale conventionally prefers one over the other for that content type.
• Avoid anglicisms where an established Spanish equivalent exists. Genuine borrowings already naturalized in the target locale are fine to keep.

Tone

• neutral: Balanced, unmarked register — neither noticeably formal nor noticeably casual. Default to "tú" unless context suggests otherwise.
• friendly: Warm, approachable phrasing, "tú" register. Contractions and casual connectors are fine.
• formal: Polite, professional register, "usted" throughout. Avoid casual connectors and slang.
• casual: Relaxed, conversational "tú" register, the way you'd address someone you know well.

Apply whichever tone was parsed from args (default neutral) to the translation.

Self-check before returning a translation

Read your own output as if you were the target-language reader, not the translator. Does it sound like something a native speaker would actually say, or does it read as translated? If it reads as translated (overly literal, unnatural word order, an anglicism with a better native equivalent), revise once before returning it — a self-check pass is far cheaper than a second model call to redo the whole thing.

Output

Return the translation directly. If a tone was explicitly requested, don't narrate that you applied it — just apply it.
