insights

insights is a skill for Claude Code from mycelium-hq/ai-brain-starter. It costs 91 tokens per session (11,004 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A journal-review skill that finds trends, unusual events, and recurring patterns across recent journal entries.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it with /weekly or /monthly, or when reviewing a past period of journal entries.
Why use it?
It helps turn scattered personal notes into a weekly or monthly review.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00091 $0.11004
Opus 5 $0.00046 $0.05502
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.02201
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.01100

Security

Grade A, and why

insights scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 573 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

When the user types /weekly or /monthly, generate an insight report from their recent journal entries.

Language

Generate the entire report in the language the user writes in. If Spanish, all sections — coach, therapist, panel, floor notes — are in Spanish.

Spanish floor aliases: Asco (1) · Vergüenza (2) · Bochorno (3) · Culpa (4) · Apatía (5) · Resignación (6) · Confusión (7) · Soledad (8) · Aburrimiento (9) · Duelo (10) · Decepción (11) · Herida (12) · Miedo (13) · Frustración (14) · Deseo (15) · Rabia (16) · Desprecio (17) · Orgullo (18) · Valentía (19) · Esperanza (20) · Neutralidad (21) · Disposición (22) · Aceptación (23) · Razón (24) · Confianza (25) · Compasión (26) · Humildad (27) · Pertenencia (28) · Amor (29) · Gratitud (30) · Entusiasmo (31) · Asombro (32) · Alegría (33) · Paz (34)

Floor wikilinks in the report use Spanish aliases in Spanish: [[Miedo]], [[Valentía]] etc.

For /weekly -- read all journal entries from the current calendar week (Monday-Sunday). If today is Monday or Tuesday, default to the previous week (since there's barely any data yet). The user can specify "this week" to override.

For /monthly -- read all journal entries from the current calendar month (1st-last day). If today is the 1st-3rd, default to the previous month. The user can specify "this month" to override.

Journal entries are in: [VAULT_PATH]/Journals/

CRITICAL: How to find entries by date

DO NOT grep thousands of files. Use the journal index instead.

Step 0: Load the journal index

Read [VAULT_PATH]/⚙️ Meta/journal-index.json (or [VAULT_PATH]/Meta/journal-index.json on vaults without an emoji-prefixed Meta — the same folder build-journal-index.py writes to). Structure: {"total": N, "last_updated": "YYYY-MM-DD", "entries": [{file, date, floor, floor_level, floor_arc}, ...]}. Access entries via idx["entries"], then filter by entry["date"].

floor_arc is present only on entries that moved, and build-journal-index.py already stores it as a real list (e.g. ["Fear", "Frustration", "Courage"]) — read it straight from the index for the section 0e movement report instead of re-grepping frontmatter. If no entry in the period carries it, the field is genuinely absent from those entries; do not infer arcs.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

insights is a skill published in the GitHub repository mycelium-hq/ai-brain-starter (36 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 91 tokens to every session and 11,004 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
