impact

impact is a skill for Claude Code from myelixlabs/synapse-mcp. It costs 54 tokens per session (289 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A code-change impact report that uses a map of the codebase to show what calls a function, class or module and what may depend on it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect direct and indirect callers, related files and covering tests for a symbol. It requires Synapse Pro.
Why use it?
It helps reveal affected files and tests before you change a piece of code, reducing the chance of breaking hidden callers. It also gives a risk judgement for the change.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.00289
Opus 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00116
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00058
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00029

Measured 7d ago against content hash 430b0c884bd4, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

impact scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Impact of changing a symbol

The symbol is $ARGUMENTS. If it is empty, ask the user which function, class or module they mean.

  1. Find the repo_id for the current project with synapse_manage_repos (action list), matching on the project directory. If the project is not registered, stop and suggest /synapse-mcp:index.
  2. If the name could match more than one definition, call synapse_search_codebase with action symbol and ask the user to pick. For Elixir, include the arity, for example Parser.parse/2.
  3. Call synapse_change_review with action impact, the symbol and the repo_id.
  4. Report: direct callers, callers further out, the files involved and the tests that cover them. Finish with a one-line judgement of how risky a change is.

If Synapse answers that this needs a Pro licence, say so plainly and point the user to https://synapse-mcp.dev/download. Do not retry or work around it.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

impact is a skill published in the GitHub repository myelixlabs/synapse-mcp (3 stars, last pushed 6d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 54 tokens to every session and 289 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-30.
