neuron-streaming

neuron-streaming is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from neuron-core/neuron-laravel. It costs 213 tokens per session (5,541 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for sending live Neuron AI output to another program or interface as it is produced. It covers native chunks, progress events, web protocols such as server-sent events, and delivery channels.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to stream agent responses to a web interface, expose progress events, connect Vercel AI SDK or AG-UI clients, and deliver output through HTTP or another channel.
Why use it?
It avoids waiting for a complete response before showing anything to the user. It also explains how to format the same output for different clients and delivery methods.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00213 $0.05541
Opus 5.5 $0.00085 $0.02216
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00043 $0.01108
Haiku 4.5 $0.00021 $0.00554

Security

Grade A, and why

neuron-streaming scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 15d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Neuron AI Streaming

This skill covers how output leaves a running agent or workflow and reaches a consumer: the native chunk stream, portable progress events, protocol adapters for UI libraries, and channels for push delivery.

The Mental Model

A Workflow segment produces a sequence of live objects while it runs. Four independent concerns decide what happens to them:

Concern Question it answers Component
Source What is emitted? Provider chunks and events yielded by nodes
Shape What does the wire format look like? StreamAdapterInterface via setStreamAdapter()
Destination Where does it go? Pull iteration over the generator, or eager delivery through StreamingChannelInterface via setChannel()
Encoding How does it become bytes? SSEEncoder on the HTTP edge; a channel encodes for its own transport

Adapter and channel compose. The adapter decides the shape, the channel the destination. The Workflow converts each item once into a ProtocolEvent. With both an adapter and channel configured, it consumes the pipeline eagerly and delivers events to the channel; otherwise the caller consumes a lazy generator. It never frames bytes: the edge that owns the transport encodes it.

Live output is ephemeral. Nothing yielded during a segment is stored in persistence or replayed when a completed step is restored. Chat history is the record the UI reconciles from. Never make correctness depend on a client receiving a streamed item.

Pull Streaming: Native Chunks

Agent::stream() and Workflow::events() return a lazy Generator unless both an adapter and channel are configured. Iterate that generator for live output, then read the final state from getReturn(). With adapter + channel, they stream eagerly to the channel and return the final AgentState or WorkflowState directly.

use NeuronAI\Chat\Messages\Stream\Chunks\TextChunk;
use NeuronAI\Chat\Messages\UserMessage;

$stream = $agent->stream(new UserMessage('Hello'));

foreach ($stream as $item) {
    if ($item instanceof TextChunk) {
        echo $item->content;
    }
}

$state = $stream->getReturn();
$message = $state->getMessage();

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

neuron-streaming is a skill published in the GitHub repository neuron-core/neuron-laravel (122 stars, last pushed 16d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 213 tokens to every session and 5,541 once invoked, about $0.0009 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-01.
