Hermes Agent is an AI assistant that learns from its use by creating and improving skills, retaining knowledge, searching past conversations, and adapting to its users. It is for people who want to run an agent through a terminal or messaging platforms while connecting it to different AI models and scheduled tasks.
Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

What it costs to keep this loaded
Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00016 | $0.05401 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00008 | $0.02701 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00003 | $0.01080 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00002 | $0.00540 |
Grade A, and why
claude-design scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Claude Design for CLI/API Agents
Use this skill when the user asks for design work that would normally fit Claude Design, but the agent is running in a CLI/API environment instead of the hosted Claude Design web UI.
The goal is to preserve Claude Design's useful design behavior and taste while removing hosted-tool plumbing that does not exist in normal agent environments.
Before starting, check for other web-design skills like popular-web-designs (ready-to-paste design systems for Stripe, Linear, Vercel, Notion, etc.) and design-md (Google's DESIGN.md token spec format). If the user wants a known brand's look, load popular-web-designs alongside this one and let it supply the visual vocabulary. If the deliverable is a token spec file rather than a rendered artifact, use design-md instead. Full decision table below.
When To Use This Skill vs popular-web-designs vs design-md
Hermes has three design-related skills under skills/creative/. They do different jobs — load the right one (or combine them):
| Skill | What it gives you | Use when the user wants... |
|---|---|---|
| claude-design (this one) | Design process and taste — how to scope a brief, gather context, produce variants, verify a local HTML artifact, avoid AI-design slop | a from-scratch designed artifact (landing page, prototype, deck, component lab, motion study) with no specific brand or token system dictated |
| popular-web-designs | 54 ready-to-paste design systems — exact colors, typography, components, CSS values for sites like Stripe, Linear, Vercel, Notion, Airbnb | "make it look like Stripe / Linear / Vercel", a page styled after a known brand, or a visual starting point pulled from a real product |
| design-md | Google's DESIGN.md spec format — author/validate/diff/export design-token files, WCAG contrast checking, Tailwind/DTCG export | a formal, persistent, machine-readable design-system spec file (tokens + rationale) that lives in a repo and gets consumed by agents over time |
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

claude-design is a skill published in the GitHub repository NousResearch/hermes-agent (243,146 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 16 tokens to every session and 5,401 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
Other skills, from other repositories
ui-animation
Builds, reviews, and measures UI motion, including springs, gestures, scroll effects, and curve fitting from recordings. Use when asked to "add animation", "match this easing", "reverse engineer this motion", or find animation opportunities. For action semantics use product-design; for visual layout use ui-design.
ui-design
Designs and builds React/Next/Tailwind UI and audits visual and interaction defects. Use when asked to "build a landing page", "extract our design system", "add dark mode", "make this responsive", "remove UI slop", or "audit this component". For product decisions use product-design; for browser measurements use…
typography-audit
Audits font loading, type scales, measure, spacing, OpenType, and rendered punctuation with 78 scoped rules. Use when asked to "audit typography", "fix the fonts", or "review my type system". For a new visual direction use ui-design Direction; for general UI defects use ui-design Audit.
frontend-design
Guidance for distinctive, intentional visual design when building or reshaping UI, HTML/React artifacts, dashboards, charts, and visual reports. Use before implementation to choose a content-specific structure, typography, and visual system that does not read as a templated default.
motion-system
Define the app's motion language before animating anything -- a small set of durations, easings, and named moves that every animation draws from, so the app feels designed instead of decorated. Use before writing the first animation in a project, or when existing motion feels scattered.
polish-pass
The de-AI pass -- audit a vibe-coded app for template smell in design and copy, then fix it with editorial layout, purposeful motion, and human-sounding words. Use after any build session, before anyone else sees it.
