openadapt-gui-write

openadapt-gui-write is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from OpenAdaptAI/openadapt-agent. It costs 27 tokens per session (696 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A controlled way to make repeated changes in a graphical user interface when no programming interface is available. It uses OpenAdapt through MCP and checks whether the change was actually saved.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for repeatable GUI updates that need evidence of persistence. Treat only a verified saved result with a Seal as success.
Why use it?
It prevents a success message from being treated as proof when the underlying record did not change, or when the operation was halted or failed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00027 $0.00696
Opus 5.5 $0.00011 $0.00278
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00005 $0.00139
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00070

Security

Grade A, and why

openadapt-gui-write scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

OpenAdapt: enter it in the app and check that it saved

Use this when your agent has decided what to enter and the app has no usable API. Call list_workflows, then run_workflow with the workflow name, its inputs, and your own request_id.

The three tools

  1. list_workflows returns each workflow's name, purpose, done_means, and typed inputs.
  2. run_workflow takes workflow, inputs, request_id, and optional wait_seconds. Use your own id for the piece of work, such as a referral id, and send the same id if you retry. The same id never writes twice. Don't put patient details in it.
  3. get_run takes a run_id and returns the result when a run was still going.

What the outcome means

outcome What happened What to do
done Saved and checked. Nothing more for this request.
needs_review Stopped before a save. A person decides. Nothing was written, unless record_changed is unknown: a run waiting for a person to approve a save may have made an earlier one. Don't start the same work again. Check back with get_run.
not_sure_if_saved It may or may not have saved. Never retry. A person checks the record.
did_not_run This call wrote nothing. After request_id_conflict, an earlier request with the same request_id may have saved. Fix the problem in what_happened, then retry with the same request_id if safe_to_retry is true.

Only outcome done means the change was saved and checked. needs_review means it stopped before saving and a person decides, so don't start the same work again. not_sure_if_saved means a person must check the record, so never retry it. did_not_run means this call wrote nothing: fix the problem and retry with the same request_id when safe_to_retry is true. After request_id_conflict, an earlier request with the same request_id may have saved, so call get_run with first_run_id to see it.

proof says how strong the evidence behind done is: local means the record check ran on the computer that ran the workflow, sealed means a signed receipt exists, and simulated means a sandbox result that opened no app.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

openadapt-gui-write is a skill published in the GitHub repository OpenAdaptAI/openadapt-agent (3 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 27 tokens to every session and 696 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
