image-craft

image-craft is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Orkas-AI/Orkas. It costs 3 tokens per session (790 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An image art-direction guide for deciding a subject, visual style, composition, distinctive details, and typography before creating original artwork.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when an image needs original art direction, restyling, or clarification of its intended look. Do not use it for simple crops, resizing, format changes, background removal, or narrowly defined edits.
Why use it?
It gives an underspecified image a clear visual direction and keeps those decisions in the standard image manifest.

About the project

Orkas is a desktop application for commanding a team of AI agents through one chat, with a commander model assigning work to specialist agents in parallel or in sequence. People use it to coordinate research, writing, presentations, and software tasks while keeping files on their computer. The catalogue includes skills for extending the agents available to Orkas.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00003 $0.00790
Opus 5 $0.00002 $0.00395
Sonnet 5 $0.00001 $0.00158
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00079

Security

Grade A, and why

image-craft scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 36 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Image Craft

Read this skill only after route lock when the task needs original art direction, restyling, or clarification of an underspecified look. Skip it for crop, resize, format conversion, background removal, deterministic placement, or a narrow edit whose visual system is already defined.

Art-direction pass

Populate all of the following inside the canonical image-manifest.json template's art_direction object; never place them at the manifest top level:

  1. subject_world: the concrete subject, setting, era, material culture, and audience expectation.
  2. one_job: the single thing the image must communicate at thumbnail size.
  3. visual_tradition: a real visual tradition or production language, not only mood adjectives.
  4. composition: focal point, camera or viewing angle, scale relationships, negative space, and reading order.
  5. signature_device: one memorable subject-specific device that prevents a generic template result.
  6. typography: type role, casing, weight, width, tracking, and copy hierarchy when text is present. Default English titles to sentence case or natural title case and body/supporting copy to sentence case. Preserve all caps only when exact user-approved copy or an external brand/source requires it, and limit it to one short metadata label, acronym, or code. A generic tech, editorial, premium, or cinematic mood never authorizes all caps.
  7. color_light_material: palette roles, light direction/quality, surface character, and depth treatment.
  8. must_avoid: visual clichés, unwanted objects, misleading claims, garbled text, and style failures.

Reject vague defaults such as “modern, premium, cinematic” unless each word is translated into visible choices. Prefer one strong thesis over a collage of styles.

For a multi-image set, define this art direction once for the set instead of independently re-expanding the style for every member. Treat the first produced image as the style anchor; GENERATE and EDIT rely on the image service rather than ImageStudio post-generation review. Later images may change their subject-specific content and local composition, but must carry forward the anchor's palette roles, typography roles, spacing/grid rhythm, shape and icon language, material treatment, and signature device unless the user explicitly requests a variation.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
