campfire: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/add-language/SKILL.md

add-language is a skill for Claude Code from pandulapeter/campfire. It costs 147 tokens per session (4,212 once invoked), scanned A, original, MPL-2.0.

A workflow for adding one new language across Campfire's app, iOS features, web screens, and documentation. It checks whether the language is supported and guides the required edits.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when introducing a new language to Campfire and checking that its translations, language selector, iOS project, web loading screen, and documentation are updated.
Why use it?
Adding a language in only one place can leave untranslated text, missing system prompts, or outdated language lists. This workflow helps prevent those incomplete changes.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: installed under .claude/. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions subagents; names the AskUserQuestion tool.

This is pandulapeter/campfire's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on campfire itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything campfire configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is python3 .github/scripts/check_license_headers.py && python3 .github/scripts/check_sizes.py.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00147 $0.04212
Opus 5.5 $0.00059 $0.01685
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00029 $0.00842
Haiku 4.5 $0.00015 $0.00421

Security

Grade A, and why

add-language scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/language.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 224 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Adding a language to Campfire

One language per run. Everything below is required; a language missing any step is broken somewhere (a "???" string, English system dialogs on iOS, an English loading screen on the web, a docs list that forgets it). The checklist is enforced by scripts/language.py; run it, never skip it.

Romanian (ro) was added this way and is the worked example: when unsure how a step looks, look at how ro appears in that file. Don't commit unless the user asks (then load the commit-messages skill). Load the code-style skill before editing any .kt or strings.xml file.

L=.claude/skills/add-language/scripts/language.py below.

1. Ask for the language

If the request names no language, ask for one (AskUserQuestion, or a plain question). If it names several, take the first, say the others need a run each, and carry on with that one only.

Settle these names now and use them everywhere:

Name Rule Romanian
code ISO 639-1 (639-2 only if no 639-1), lowercase, no region ro
English name as English writes it Romanian
enum entry English name, upper snake case ROMANIAN
key suffix English name, lower snake case romanian
own name the language's name for itself, capitalized as a picker shows it Română
strings object Strings + code capitalized (generated by the plugin) StringsRo

2. Preflight: stop if the language needs groundwork

Write a sample with every letter of the language's alphabet in both cases, every diacritic, its quotation marks, and any punctuation of its own, then run:

python3 $L preflight <code> --sample "<sample>"
  • Exit 2 (ABORT lines): stop. Make no changes. Tell the user that <Language> needs groundwork before it can be added, quoting each ABORT line, and what that groundwork is:
    • fonts: Inter and JetBrains Mono hold Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic, and ui/theme/ScriptFaces.kt one row per other script (Hebrew so far). A script no row covers needs a row there, its face subset by tools/fonts/script_faces.py, and credited (root CLAUDE.md → Build).
    • plurals: localization/PluralRules.kt has no row for the language; its CLDR cardinal rule goes there first, with a test.
    • code: a regional variant, or a retired code (iw): the language is added under the code LanguageCodes folds to, which also maps what Android reports.
  • NOTE lines: carry on, keep them for step 5's brief and the final report. A language written from the right gets a NOTE with its checklist (the AppLanguage direction in step 3, dir in step 3's web block, the stores' codes in step 8); everything else about RTL (layout, songs, the editor, the PDF) follows from the direction.
  • Exit 0: carry on.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
