tdmcp-project-safety

tdmcp-project-safety is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Pantani/tdmcp. It costs 30 tokens per session (357 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A safety guide for tdmcp operations that can change TouchDesigner projects. It covers consent, scope, undo, authentication, and checking the result after a change.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before loading, saving, deleting, moving, renaming, overwriting, or otherwise changing project state through tdmcp.
Why use it?
It prevents accidental deletion, overwriting, unauthorized access, or treating a timeout and missing confirmation as approval. TouchDesigner projects can contain valuable artist-created work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00030 $0.00357
Opus 5 $0.00015 $0.00179
Sonnet 5 $0.00006 $0.00071
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

tdmcp-project-safety scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

tdmcp project safety

Use this skill whenever a request can delete, overwrite, bypass, move, rename, save, or otherwise change artist-owned TouchDesigner state.

Safety rules

  • Fail closed. Missing UI, timeout, disconnect, close, malformed input, or broker failure is never approval for a destructive action.
  • Use native confirmation flows when the tool provides them. Preserve the exact decision in the structured result.
  • Never overwrite an existing project file without explicit consent.
  • Never call project load or quit unless a future, dedicated feature explicitly authorizes it.
  • Do not route panic, blackout, freeze, or other emergency controls through a confirmation queue.
  • Treat YOLO or confirmation skipping as an explicit policy flag. Report it; do not infer it from missing UI or environment state.
  • Keep bearer authentication and bridge authorization intact. Do not expose tokens, secrets, project contents, or raw script payloads in logs.

Mutation discipline

  1. Resolve exact paths and preconditions before writing.
  2. Describe scope and impact, including whether an operation destroys or merely bypasses state.
  3. Prefer one named undoable operation when the runtime proves that behavior. Do not promise cross-request atomic undo without live evidence.
  4. For multi-field edits, verify every applied field and roll back earlier fields if a later field fails.
  5. Read the final state back before returning success.

When TouchDesigner or the bridge is unavailable, continue with offline schema and unit validation but label live behavior UNVERIFIED — pending bridge.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
