strategies

strategies is a skill for Claude Code from PantherWatch/panther-mcp. It costs 10 tokens per session (608 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A collection of example trading strategies for Panther, including rules based on moving averages, RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands. Backtesting means checking how a strategy would have performed on historical market data.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to backtest strategies such as Golden Cross, RSI mean reversion, MACD crossover, Bollinger Band bounce, or an RSI strategy filtered by a long-term moving average.
Why use it?
It removes the need to invent example strategy rules and request formats from scratch. The examples show how to describe conditions for different market situations.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00010 $0.00608
Opus 5 $0.00005 $0.00304
Sonnet 5 $0.00002 $0.00122
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00061

Security

Grade A, and why

strategies scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 60 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Show the user example strategies they can backtest. Use the Panther MCP tools to run any of these.

Example Strategies

Golden Cross (SMA 50/200)

Buy when 50-day SMA crosses above 200-day SMA, sell on the reverse. Best for: trending markets, long-term positions.

"Backtest SMA 50/200 crossover on BTC/USDT daily for 2024"

RSI Mean Reversion

Buy when RSI(14) drops below 30 (oversold), sell above 70 (overbought). Best for: range-bound markets, mean-reversion.

"Buy when RSI(14) < 30, sell when RSI(14) > 70 on ETH/USDT daily for 2024"

MACD Crossover

Enter when MACD line crosses above signal line, exit on reverse. Best for: momentum trading, catching trend changes.

"Enter when MACD crosses above signal line, exit on reverse, on BTC/USDT daily for 2024"

Bollinger Band Bounce

Buy at the lower band, sell at the upper band. Best for: range-bound, mean-reversion in low-volatility periods.

"Buy when price crosses above lower BB, sell at upper BB on gold daily for 2024"

Combined: RSI + SMA Filter

Only buy RSI oversold when price is above the 200-day SMA (uptrend filter).

"Buy when RSI(14) < 30 AND price > SMA(200), sell when RSI(14) > 70 on BTC/USDT daily for 2024"

Supported Assets

  • Crypto: BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP + 15 more (via Binance)
  • Forex: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY + 7 more (via IC Markets)
  • Commodities: Gold (XAU/USD), Silver (XAG/USD)

Supported Indicators

  • SMA — Simple Moving Average (params: period)
  • EMA — Exponential Moving Average (params: period)
  • RSI — Relative Strength Index (params: period, range 0-100)
  • MACD — Moving Average Convergence Divergence (params: fast, slow, signal; outputs: macd_line, signal_line, histogram)
  • BB — Bollinger Bands (params: period, std; outputs: upper, middle, lower)

Tips

  • Add with 5% stop loss to any strategy to limit downside
  • Add with 15% take profit to lock in gains
  • Compare strategies: run two backtests on the same asset/period and ask Claude to compare
  • Every backtest gets a shareable URL on panther.watch

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

strategies is a skill published in the GitHub repository PantherWatch/panther-mcp (1 stars, last pushed 5mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 10 tokens to every session and 608 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
