subwave-app-android

subwave-app-android is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from perminder-klair/subwave. It costs 0 tokens per session (2,769 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

An Android phone runner for the SUB/WAVE mobile app, which is built with Expo. It can load the app live from a development computer or install a standalone release build.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to install, reinstall, sideload, or run SUB/WAVE on a connected Android device, including a Pixel. It helps test either a development version with hot reload or a release-like version without Metro.
Why use it?
It removes the manual steps for getting the app onto a connected Android phone and checking that it starts. You can choose live editing over USB or a build that works without the cable.

About the project

Subwave is an internet radio station where an AI DJ selects music and speaks between tracks for every listener at once. Listeners can request music in plain language, while operators manage the queue, schedule, DJ personas, and station activity. Its catalogue entries define skills and workflows for operating the station.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.02769
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.01385
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00554
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00277

Security

Grade A, and why

subwave-app-android scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 268 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

SUB/WAVE Android app runner

Get the SUB/WAVE Expo app onto a connected Android phone and confirm it's running. Two paths, picked by intent:

  • USB / dev — the dev-client app loads JS live from Metro on this machine over an adb reverse tunnel. Hot reload, instant edits, but the phone must stay tethered and Metro must keep running.
  • Embedded / release — a release APK with the JS bundle baked in. Build once, install, unplug. Runs in the wild over WiFi/cellular with no Metro and no cable. This is "production mode" / "see how it feels for real".

If the user is iterating on code, they want dev. If they want to live with the app, hand it to someone, or judge the real feel, they want release. When it's genuinely ambiguous, ask.

Paths and facts you need

This skill is checked into the SUB/WAVE repo. Derive the repo root once — don't hardcode it:

REPO=$(git -C "<this skill's base directory>" rev-parse --show-toplevel)
APP="$REPO/app"   # the Expo project

<this skill's base directory> is the absolute path shown as "Base directory for this skill" when the skill loads. Shell state does not persist between command blocks, so re-derive $REPO/$APP (or substitute their values) each time.

Fixed facts about the app:

Thing Value
App package id com.getsubwave.app
URL scheme subwave
Metro port 8081
Debug (dev-client) APK $APP/android/app/build/outputs/apk/debug/app-debug.apk
Release APK $APP/android/app/build/outputs/apk/release/app-release.apk
Default station public getsubwave.comno local backend needed

adb lives in the Android SDK. Resolve it once; don't assume it's on PATH:

ADB=$(command -v adb || echo "$HOME/Library/Android/sdk/platform-tools/adb")
"$ADB" devices    # expect a line like: <serial>  device

If adb devices shows nothing under "List of devices attached", the phone isn't connected/authorized — stop and tell the user to plug in and accept the USB-debugging prompt. Everything below needs at least one device in device state.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

subwave-app-android is a skill published in the GitHub repository perminder-klair/subwave (1,298 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 2,769 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
