Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5 | $0.00174 | $0.03337 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00087 | $0.01669 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00035 | $0.00667 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00017 | $0.00334 |
Grade A, and why
skill-creator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 244 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Skill Creator
Portable Agent Skill (agentskills.io open standard). The YAML frontmatter above is the spec-compliant contract:
nameequals the folder name anddescriptionis the routing text every harness reads. This skill produces NEW skills that obey the same contract. Keep both this body and every skill it generates HARNESS-AGNOSTIC — no hardcoded invocation syntax (/skill,$skill,/skills), no harness-only frontmatter (e.g. Claudeallowed-tools) in the shared body, and runnable logic in portablescripts/.
When to invoke: when you are about to write a new skill, or when a procedure has surfaced more than once and you want to capture it as a reusable, auto-routable workflow rather than re-deriving it every task. Reach for it the moment you catch yourself copy-pasting another skill's frontmatter by hand, or when a learning has grown into a ≥2-step procedure that applies across multiple tasks. If the candidate is really a one-off fact or gotcha, STOP and route it to a learning instead (see
.claude/skills/self-improvement/SKILL.md).
Why this skill exists
A skill is only useful if a harness can find it and another agent can follow it
without the author present. Both depend on getting the form exactly right: the
frontmatter name MUST equal the folder name or the skill silently fails to
register; the description is the ONLY text an auto-routing harness reads when
deciding whether to invoke, so a vague one means the skill never fires; and the
body must be harness-agnostic or it breaks the moment it is installed on a
different harness. These are mechanical, easy to get subtly wrong, and a wrong
skill is worse than no skill — it routes badly and rots. This skill turns
"write a skill" into a deterministic, validated procedure so every authored skill
clears the bar by construction.
It also enforces the gate that keeps the skill set lean: most ideas are NOT skills. A skill earns its place only when the procedure has ≥2 steps AND recurs across tasks. Everything else is a learning. Applying that test up front is half this skill's value.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

skill-creator is a skill published in the GitHub repository r5rana/agentware (24 stars, last pushed 18d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 174 tokens to every session and 3,337 once invoked, about $0.0009 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
