creative-brief

creative-brief is a skill for Claude Code from rampstackco/claude-skills. It costs 150 tokens per session (1,897 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A structured project brief that turns a vague idea for a website, app, brand, or campaign into guidance a designer, developer, or AI agent can use. It covers the project, its purpose, audience, desired outcomes, and other key decisions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to start or redesign a project, brief a creative or technical team, align people after direction has drifted, and make an idea specific enough to build.
Why use it?
It gives a team shared scope before execution begins, reducing unclear expectations and design or development work based on guesses. It is useful when a project needs alignment before building.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00150 $0.01897
Opus 5 $0.00075 $0.00949
Sonnet 5 $0.00030 $0.00379
Haiku 4.5 $0.00015 $0.00190

Security

Grade A, and why

creative-brief scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Creative Brief

Bridges discovery and execution. Translates "we want a website" into a brief a designer, developer, or AI agent can actually run with.

When to use

  • Starting a new project (website, app, brand, campaign)
  • Kicking off a redesign or rebrand
  • Handing work to a designer, developer, or AI agent
  • Aligning a team that has drifted off course
  • Turning a vague idea into something buildable

When NOT to use

  • The user is asking a one-off design question (use design-standards)
  • The user wants a PRD or dev ticket (use pm-spec-writing)
  • The user is doing initial research and has not decided what they are building (use brand-discovery first)
  • The user just wants you to write copy (use content-and-copy)
  • The user already has scope and constraints settled and needs deeper aesthetic direction specifically (use creative-direction for the structured aesthetic axes)

Required inputs

A brief needs answers to ten questions. Before writing, confirm you have answers (or can elicit them) for:

  1. What is the project?
  2. Why does it exist? What problem does it solve?
  3. Who is the audience?
  4. What do you want them to do, feel, or know?
  5. What is the personality? How does it sound?
  6. What is the visual direction? How does it look?
  7. What is in scope? What is out?
  8. What are the constraints (time, budget, technical, brand)?
  9. What does success look like?
  10. Who approves?

If you have fewer than five of these, run a quick intake first. See "Eliciting missing info" below.

The framework: brief structure

Output a markdown brief with these ten sections. Keep each section tight. A good brief is two pages, not ten.

1. Snapshot

One paragraph answering: what, who, why, when. The kind of thing you would say at a kickoff in thirty seconds.

2. Audience

Primary audience first. Include who they are, what they are trying to do, what is blocking them today, and where you reach them. Add secondary audiences only if they materially change the work.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
