rhdh-translation-upload

rhdh-translation-upload is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from redhat-developer/rhdh-skills. It costs 107 tokens per session (577 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow for finding changed translation text in several Red Hat Developer Hub code repositories and uploading it to a translation service. A translation management system, or TMS, is a service where translators work on text.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for checking repositories, extracting translation strings, creating release deltas, uploading them to Memsource, and updating the English source files.
Why use it?
It limits uploads to new or changed English text, so translators do not have to review unchanged strings.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00107 $0.00577
Opus 5.5 $0.00043 $0.00231
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00115
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00058

Security

Grade A, and why

rhdh-translation-upload scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/_support.py, scripts/translation_upload.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

RHDH Translation Upload

Extract translation strings from the four RHDH repos and upload delta files to TMS. The delta includes only new keys and keys whose English value changed since the previous release, ensuring translators only see what needs work.

Subcommands

Command Description
preflight Check repos, tools, TMS credentials
extract --sprint S Generate reference JSONs from all repos (auto-checkouts backstage to the version in rhdh/backstage.json)
delta --sprint S Compare against SOT, apply RHDH overrides for backstage, filter to Red Hat-owned plugins, produce delta + full files
upload --sprint S Upload delta files to TMS (requires source ~/.memsourcerc)
upload --sprint S --dry-run Preview what would be uploaded
update-sot --sprint S Copy full references to rhdh-plugins/workspaces/translations/sot/{repo}-en.json, create branch + PR in rhdh-plugins

Route

Load workflows/extract-and-upload.md. It walks through preflight, extraction, delta computation, upload, and EN SOT update in sequence.

Boundary

  • Downloading translated files from TMS and deploying them back to repos is /rhdh-translation-deploy.
  • Repository locations and branch context are /rhdh-context.
  • External writes (creating PRs, pushing branches) go through /mutation-gate.

Completion

Report:

  1. Per-repo delta summary (new/changed/removed/unchanged key counts)
  2. Upload status per repo (filename, key count, project ID)
  3. EN SOT PR link (if created)
  4. Next step: wait for translators, then run /rhdh-translation-deploy
Files

What ships with it

4 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
