tenant-isolation

tenant-isolation is a skill for Claude Code from rico2035/security-skills. It costs 63 tokens per session (805 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A review checklist for keeping each customer’s data separate in a multi-tenant application, where one software system serves multiple customers. It checks databases, APIs, caches, and background jobs.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding or reviewing data-access code, checking database queries and endpoints, or preparing for SOC 2 or HIPAA reviews.
Why use it?
It helps prevent one customer from seeing or changing another customer’s data, a serious security flaw.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00063 $0.00805
Opus 5 $0.00032 $0.00402
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00161
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00081

Security

Grade A, and why

tenant-isolation scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Tenant Isolation Verification

Verify that multi-tenant data segregation is enforced across all database queries, API endpoints, and data access patterns. A tenant isolation failure is a critical security vulnerability that can expose one customer's data to another.

When to Use

  • After adding new database queries or services
  • When reviewing pull requests that touch data access
  • During SOC 2 or HIPAA compliance audits
  • Before onboarding enterprise customers

What to Check

1. Query-Level Isolation

Every database query in service/repository files must filter by tenant identifier.

Prisma:

# Find queries: each must include tenantId or organizationId
prisma\.\w+\.(findMany|findFirst|findUnique|update|delete|count|aggregate|groupBy)\(

# Dangerous: raw queries without tenant filtering
\$queryRaw|\$executeRaw|\$queryRawUnsafe

TypeORM:

# Find queries
\.(find|findOne|findOneBy|createQueryBuilder|getRepository)\(

# Check for tenant where clause
\.where\(.*tenant

SQLAlchemy:

session\.(query|execute)\(
\.filter\(.*tenant

Django ORM:

\.objects\.(filter|get|all|exclude|create|update|delete)\(
# Must include tenant/organization filter

Raw SQL (any framework):

# All raw SQL must have tenant_id in WHERE
(SELECT|UPDATE|DELETE|INSERT).*FROM
# Verify WHERE tenant_id = ? or equivalent

2. Middleware/Guard Enforcement

# Check that tenant guard/middleware exists and is applied
@UseGuards.*Tenant|TenantGuard|TenantMiddleware|tenant_required
@tenant_scope|@require_tenant|@multi_tenant

# Controllers without tenant protection
@Controller.*(?!.*@UseGuards.*Tenant)

3. Cross-Tenant Data Leaks

Check for:

  • Joins/includes that don't respect tenant boundaries
  • Cached data without tenant-scoped cache keys
  • Background jobs that process data without tenant context
  • WebSocket connections that broadcast across tenants
  • File uploads/downloads without tenant-scoped paths

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

tenant-isolation is a skill published in the GitHub repository rico2035/security-skills (5 stars, last pushed 9d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 63 tokens to every session and 805 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
