direct-response-copy

direct-response-copy is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from robroyhobbs/marketing-skills. It costs 178 tokens per session (9,513 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A writing tool for persuasive copy such as landing pages, emails, sales messages, headlines, calls to action, and social posts. It aims to make the writing sound natural while applying persuasion principles.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to write new sales and marketing copy, improve existing text, create headline options, or assess copy.
Why use it?
It helps address copy that feels artificial, unclear, or ineffective when the goal is to encourage someone to take action.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is ./campaigns/{campaign-name}/.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00178 $0.09513
Opus 5 $0.00089 $0.04757
Sonnet 5 $0.00036 $0.01903
Haiku 4.5 $0.00018 $0.00951

Security

Grade A, and why

direct-response-copy scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Direct Response Copy

Here's what separates copy that converts from copy that just exists: the good stuff sounds like a person talking to you. Not a marketing team. Not a guru. Not a robot. A person who figured something out and wants to share it.

That's what this skill does. It writes copy that feels natural while deploying the persuasion principles that actually work. The reader shouldn't notice the technique. They should just find themselves nodding along and clicking the button.

Brand Memory Integration

This skill reads brand context to make every piece of copy consistent with the brand's established identity.

Reads: voice-profile.md, positioning.md, audience.md, creative-kit.md (all optional)

On invocation, check for ./brand/ and load available context:

  1. Load voice-profile.md (if exists):

    • Match the brand's tone, vocabulary, rhythm in all copy output
    • Apply the voice DNA: sentence length patterns, jargon level, formality register
    • Show: "Your voice is [tone summary]. All copy will match that register."
  2. Load positioning.md (if exists):

    • Use the chosen angle as the copy's foundation
    • The positioning angle determines the lead, the proof hierarchy, the CTA framing
    • Show: "Your positioning angle is '[angle]'. Building copy around that frame."
  3. Load audience.md (if exists):

    • Know who you are writing to: their awareness level, sophistication, pain points
    • Match Schwartz awareness level to headline approach (see methodology below)
    • Show: "Writing for [audience summary]. Awareness level: [level]."
  4. Load creative-kit.md (if exists):

    • Visual consistency for landing pages: color palette, typography, image style
    • Ensure copy references match the visual system
    • Show: "Creative kit loaded -- copy will reference your visual system."
  5. If ./brand/ does not exist:

    • Skip brand loading entirely. Do not error.
    • Proceed without it -- this skill works standalone.
    • The copy will be excellent either way; brand memory makes it consistent.
    • Note: "I don't see a brand profile yet. You can run /start-here or /brand-voice first to set one up, or I'll work without it."

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
