developtool-device

developtool-device is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Seeed-Projects/Seeed-Jetson-DevelopTool. It costs 37 tokens per session (960 once invoked), scanned B, original, MIT.

A device-access skill for Seeed Jetson DevelopTool, which connects a PC to a configured Jetson computer. It can use the device's camera preview, network-sharing panel, and device or robot readings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to check connection status, run approved commands on the Jetson, open network sharing, and inspect device information.
Why use it?
It avoids searching for credentials or rediscovering device connections, and keeps remote commands on the configured Jetson rather than the PC.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Which agent this was written for is unclear — built for openclaw. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; reads ~/.codex paths; mentions Codex.

Good fit Use it to check connection status, run approved commands on the Jetson, open network sharing, and inspect device information.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00037 $0.00960
Opus 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00384
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00192
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00096

Security

Grade B, and why

developtool-device scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 71 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

DevelopTool device tasks

The current task context supplies an absolute command prefix ending in bridge_client.py --runtime <private manifest>. Run it on the PC; the ssh subcommand executes its argument on the bound Jetson. Use that exact prefix, including its Python executable. Never read or print the private manifest or application configuration: the helper already handles authentication.

Direct routes

  1. Run status; run connect if disconnected. Both use the target already configured in Remote Dev. connect verifies authentication before switching the application's active runner. No configured host: ask the user to configure Remote Dev. An expired/changed runtime: use the new context; do not retry the old target. Auto-execute must be enabled for connect and arbitrary SSH commands.
  2. Execute ssh --command 'hostname; cat /etc/nv_tegra_release' --timeout 30 for device facts. Existing SSH authentication, port and sudo setup are reused. Quote the remote command as one argument; never put passwords in commands.
  3. For networking, use network to open the existing sharing panel. The user selects interfaces and provides host sudo credentials there. Opening it is not sharing success. Verify gateway, public IP, DNS and HTTPS over SSH after configuration. Preserve the existing wired SSH address and original network profile. The matched jetson-pc-wired-share skill describes Linux NM behavior.
  4. For cameras, enumerate /dev/video* and reuse the installed capture stack. camera start --source /dev/video0 opens the native preview. Sources also support RTSP URLs, numeric indexes and an already verified GStreamer pipeline ending in appsink. camera stop stops the preview. Device python3/cv2 is required; report a missing dependency instead of repeatedly guessing sources. Do not take a camera away from a robot controller; reuse its existing stream.
  5. monitor start starts measured CPU, memory, disk, temperature and device readings. monitor stop stops polling. This does not move hardware.
  6. Publish observations with publish --source arm --json '{"joint_1_deg":12.5}'. Replace the illustrative value with a real measurement. Use scalar values and units in field names. Publish after fresh observations; timestamps in the panel identify sample age. Never claim a one-time sample is live polling.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

developtool-device is a skill published in the GitHub repository Seeed-Projects/Seeed-Jetson-DevelopTool (56 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 37 tokens to every session and 960 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (asks for root). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-24.
