mathflow

mathflow is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from sillyDaibo/reasflow-dev. It costs 26 tokens per session (1,070 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A staged guide for mathematical research and technical problem solving, including modeling, derivations, proof checking, simulations, validation, and reporting.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan or carry out mathematical research, build models, verify proofs, run numerical experiments, and write up findings.
Why use it?
It breaks complex mathematical work into deliberate stages so assumptions, calculations, and results can be checked before moving on.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00026 $0.01070
Opus 5 $0.00013 $0.00535
Sonnet 5 $0.00005 $0.00214
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00107

Security

Grade A, and why

mathflow scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Installed Root

Resolve the installed reasflow-dev skills root before running packaged scripts:

Role

mathflow is the only top-level skill for staged mathematical work. It is a router and state tracker, not a request to eagerly read every stage guide.

Use the skill tool only for mathflow; do not load stage files as top-level skills.

Use when

Use this skill for mathematical research, contest modeling, derivations, proof checks, numerical experiments, result validation, or final mathematical reporting when the work may need staged judgment.

Stage Files

Stage guidance lives in subordinate files under this skill directory:

  • stages/problem-analysis.md
  • stages/mathematical-modeling.md
  • stages/derivation-and-proof-checking.md
  • stages/research-planning.md
  • stages/numerical-experimentation.md
  • stages/result-validation.md
  • stages/self-audit-loop.md
  • stages/report-writing.md

When the next step requires detailed stage rules, read only the one relevant stage file. Do not read all stage files up front.

Mathflow State

Start each staged response with a compact state block:

Mathflow State
- Current stage: <stage name or "triage">
- Evidence so far: <one short sentence>
- Next stage: <one stage name or "fast path">
- Why this stage: <one short sentence>
- Needs from user: <missing input or "none">

For small tasks, use fast path and answer directly after the state block when a full stage handoff would add ceremony without reducing risk.

Routing Rules

  • Start underspecified or open-ended work in problem-analysis.
  • Use mathematical-modeling before introducing new variables, equations, assumptions, or model families.
  • Use derivation-and-proof-checking when a claim depends on proof, derivation, symbolic manipulation, or mathematical argument quality.
  • Use research-planning before simulations, solver runs, sweeps, empirical checks, or numerical comparisons.
  • Use numerical-experimentation for reproducible computational execution after an objective, baseline, metric, and stop rule exist.
  • Use result-validation when a result needs special cases, limit cases, sensitivity, consistency, or counterexample checks.
  • Use self-audit-loop only as the final adversarial review before strong conclusions or final reporting.
  • Use report-writing only when prior work has enough grounded material to write honestly.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

mathflow is a skill published in the GitHub repository sillyDaibo/reasflow-dev (2 stars, last pushed 7d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 26 tokens to every session and 1,070 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
