test-runbook

test-runbook is a skill for Codex from SisyphusSQ/harness-template. It costs 48 tokens per session (535 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for creating, running, and recording reusable test runbooks, which are written procedures for checking a system.

In plain words
What is it for?
It produces or executes test procedures, records request and response details safely, separates raw run records from submitted summaries, and documents cleanup and unresolved issues.
Why use it?
It makes test scope, side effects, expected results, failures, cleanup, and recorded evidence explicit.

Skill for Codex

Written for Codex: agents/openai.yaml present. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents); mentions AGENTS.md.

Good fit It produces or executes test procedures, records request and response details safely, separates raw run records from submitted summaries, and documents cleanup and unresolved issues.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.00535
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00267
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00107
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00053

Security

Grade A, and why

test-runbook scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Test Runbook

  1. 读取根级 AGENTS.md
  2. 读取相关计划、runbook、OpenAPI / schema / controller / service 文档;
  3. 如存在,读取 .agents/runs/<RUN_ID>/summary

  • 可能写入的本地文件;
  • 可能触达的服务、数据库或外部系统;
  • 可能创建的临时数据;
  • 明确不会触达的范围;

Runbook

  • 目标和成功标准;
  • 执行副作用;
  • 前置条件;
  • 测试变量 / 初始化;
  • 步骤和预期结果;
  • 失败处理;
  • 清理;

Request / Response

  • 请求方法、路径、参数和关键响应字段可以写入提交版文档,但必须先脱敏;
  • token、Cookie、完整 URL、数据库主机、连接串、行主键和原始响应不得写入提交版文档;
  • 未执行的步骤写 未执行blocker,不得写成通过;

  • 原始命令输出和敏感痕迹保留在 .agents/runs/<RUN_ID>/ 或其它受控本地位置;
  • 提交版 docs/test/* 只保留必要的脱敏摘要;
  • 运行记录默认不提交;

  1. 目标、范围和成功标准;
  2. 每一步的真实结果;
  3. 失败步骤、阻塞和残余风险;
  4. 清理结果;

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

test-runbook is a skill published in the GitHub repository SisyphusSQ/harness-template (11 stars, last pushed 18d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 48 tokens to every session and 535 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings.
