boi-economic-data

boi-economic-data is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from skills-il/tax-and-finance. It costs 136 tokens per session (4,051 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for fetching and analysing Bank of Israel economic data, including interest rates, consumer prices, exchange rates, and other official statistics. The consumer price index measures changes in the prices households pay for goods and services.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to retrieve Bank of Israel rates, representative exchange rates, inflation and CPI data, government-bond yields, monetary aggregates, and related statistics.
Why use it?
It helps locate the relevant official series and interpret economic indicators without manually navigating the Bank of Israel and statistics databases.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00136 $0.04051
Opus 5 $0.00068 $0.02025

Security

Grade A, and why

boi-economic-data scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/fetch_boi_rates.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

BOI Economic Data

Instructions

Step 1: Identify the Data Type

Ask the user what economic data they need:

Data Type Hebrew Source Update Frequency
Interest rate ריבית בנק ישראל BOI Monetary Committee Announced ~6 times/year
Exchange rates שערי חליפין (שער יציג) BOI Business days Mon-Fri (Mon-Thu ~15:30, Fri ~12:30)
CPI (Consumer Price Index) מדד המחירים לצרכן CBS (Lishkat HaStatistika) Monthly (around 15th of following month)
Inflation expectations ציפיות אינפלציה BOI Monthly
Government bonds yield תשואת אג"ח ממשלתי BOI / TASE Daily
Monetary aggregates אגרגטים מוניטריים BOI Monthly

Step 2: Fetch Data from the BOI and CBS APIs

The Bank of Israel serves public data from its "new series database" (Fusion Edge Server) using the SDMX 2.1 REST API. Two data paths are live and return the same observations:

https://edge.boi.gov.il/FusionEdgeServer/ws/public/sdmxapi/rest/data/{DATAFLOW}/{series}
https://edge.boi.gov.il/FusionEdgeServer/sdmx/v2/data/dataflow/BOI.STATISTICS/{DATAFLOW}/1.0/{series}

Both accept format=csv as well as the default SDMX-XML. Observations arrive as <Obs TIME_PERIOD="..." OBS_VALUE="..." RELEASE_STATUS="..."></Obs> elements, with the series metadata as attributes on the enclosing <Series>. Always send an explicit User-Agent. The canonical endpoint reference is references/boi-api.md.

Bound every query. A bare dataflow query with no date filter returns every series in the dataflow with its full history: .../data/EXR/ is roughly 20 MB across 35 series going back to 1948. Name the series, or add startPeriod / endPeriod, or use lastNObservations. A date-bounded dataflow query is genuinely useful when you want every currency at once (.../data/EXR/?startPeriod=2026-08-26 returns that day's 16 series in a few kilobytes: 14 per-currency RER_<CUR>_ILS rates plus the two trade-weighted basket series NER_ILS_BSK_PCT and NER_ILS_BSK_IDX, which are not per-currency rates, so filter on the RER_ prefix if you only want currencies).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

boi-economic-data is a skill published in the GitHub repository skills-il/tax-and-finance (34 stars, last pushed 3d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 136 tokens to every session and 4,051 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
