Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Grade A, and why
boundary-minimum-variance scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 50 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Boundary crossing: minimum-variance (LMN) analysis
A guided version of the IDL SPEDAS minimum-variance crib sheet — the standard way to find the orientation of a magnetic boundary from single-spacecraft field data and rotate the field into the boundary-normal (L, M, N) frame.
When to use
- "Find the magnetopause/bow-shock normal for this crossing."
- "Rotate B into LMN for this current sheet / discontinuity."
- "Is this a well-determined boundary normal?" (the reliability question MVA exists to answer.)
Tool chain (all already exist)
load_data_source → browse_data_parameters → fetch_data_product
→ analyze_minvar_coordinates → (render_tplot), in a create_spedas_analysis_bundle.
Procedure
-
Bundle & scope the crossing.
create_spedas_analysis_bundle(...). Pick a window tight around the single boundary crossing — MVA assumes one planar structure; a window spanning two boundaries or lots of turbulence gives a meaningless normal. -
Fetch the field. Choose a magnetometer dataset appropriate to the mission/region and confirm the vector variable with
browse_data_parameters. Thenfetch_data_product(source_type=..., dataset_id=..., parameters=[<B vector>], start, stop, output_dir=<bundle>/data). Use the highest cadence that keeps the crossing well-sampled. -
Run MVA.
analyze_minvar_coordinates(input_file=<B csv>, output_dir=<bundle>/data, vector_cols=[<Bx>,<By>,<Bz>], time_col="time"). It returns:eigenvalues(λ_max ≥ λ_int ≥ λ_min),eigenvectors(maximum=L, intermediate=M, minimum=N),normal_vector(= the minimum-variance eigenvector N),intermediate_to_min_ratio(λ_int / λ_min),- and a
rotated_filewith B in LMN.
-
Judge reliability — do not skip this. The boundary normal is only trustworthy when the minimum eigenvalue is well-separated from the intermediate one:
- λ_int / λ_min ≳ 5–10 → well-determined normal.
- ratio ≲ 2–3 → the normal is poorly constrained; report it as unreliable and consider a different window, a longer/shorter interval, or multi-spacecraft timing instead.
- Always report the ratio alongside the normal so the result is self-documenting.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

boundary-minimum-variance is a skill published in the GitHub repository spedas/spedas_agent_kit (3 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 72 tokens to every session and 963 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
