aiohomematic: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/add-translation/SKILL.md

add-translation is a skill for Claude Code from SukramJ/aiohomematic. It costs 46 tokens per session (411 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for adding and checking translated text in an application. It uses a main English key file, a synchronized English catalogue, and a manually maintained German catalogue.

In plain words
What is it for?
Adding log messages and interface text, updating existing translations, synchronizing English files, adding German translations, and checking the catalogues.
Why use it?
It prevents translation keys from being missing, out of sync, or used incorrectly in code.

Written for Claude Code: installed under .claude/.

This is SukramJ/aiohomematic's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on aiohomematic itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything aiohomematic configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is python script/check_i18n_catalogs.py --fix.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00046 $0.00411
Opus 5 $0.00023 $0.00205
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00082
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00041

Measured 12d ago against content hash d7e34400e504, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

add-translation scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Adding a Translation

IMPORTANT: aiohomematic/strings.json is the primary source for all translation keys. The file translations/en.json is automatically synchronized from strings.json.

Step 1: Use Translation in Code

from aiohomematic import i18n

# In code (for log messages)
_LOGGER.info(i18n.tr("log.my.message.key", param=value))

Step 2: Add to Translation Catalogs (in this order)

# Step 1: Add key to aiohomematic/strings.json (PRIMARY SOURCE)
{
  "log.my.message.key": "My message with {param}"
}

# Step 2: Run sync script to copy to en.json
python script/check_i18n_catalogs.py --fix

# Step 3: Add German translation to translations/de.json
{
  "log.my.message.key": "Meine Nachricht mit {param}"
}

Step 3: Validate Translations

python script/check_i18n.py aiohomematic/ # Check usage in code
python script/check_i18n_catalogs.py # Check catalog sync

Key Files

File Purpose
aiohomematic/strings.json Primary source for all translation keys
aiohomematic/translations/en.json Auto-synced from strings.json
aiohomematic/translations/de.json German translations (manual)
script/check_i18n.py Validate translation usage in code
script/check_i18n_catalogs.py Check catalog sync between files
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
