tabularis: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/tabularis-run-macos/SKILL.md

tabularis-run-macos is a skill for Claude Code from TabularisDB/tabularis. It costs 110 tokens per session (1,624 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

An interactive macOS test runner for Tabularis that drives the real desktop app through its end-to-end test setup. End-to-end testing checks a complete user flow in the real application; this runner keeps one session open for snippets, screenshots, files, and database checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to launch and interact with Tabularis on macOS, inspect screenshots, and check files or databases while testing a change. It uses WebDriver and requires the stated macOS tools and permissions.
Why use it?
It lets you investigate a running app step by step without writing test specification files for every interaction. It also makes it possible to check the app and its data between actions.

About the project

Tabularis is an open-source desktop application for connecting to and working with databases through SQL, including PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, SQLite, DuckDB, ClickHouse, Redis and Firestore. It is used for database exploration, querying, SQL notebooks and visual query-plan analysis, and includes an MCP server that lets Claude, Cursor and Devin access schemas and run queries.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00110 $0.01624
Opus 5.5 $0.00044 $0.00650
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00325
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00162

Security

Grade A, and why

tabularis-run-macos scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 6 executable files (scripts/act.mjs, scripts/down.sh, scripts/helpers.js, …), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Run and drive Tabularis on macOS

Drives the real app the way the e2e suite does (e2e/, tauri-wd + WebDriverIO), but interactively: one session stays open and you send it small snippets, look at screenshots, and check files or databases between steps. No spec files.

macOS only. It relies on screencapture, osascript, CoreGraphics (swiftc) and the WKWebView WebDriver server. On Linux/Windows use the e2e setup in CI instead.

Scripts live in .claude/skills/tabularis-run-macos/scripts/. Below, SK is that directory and RUN_DIR is ${TMPDIR}/tabularis-run unless you set it (use the session scratchpad when you have one).

Prerequisites

  • tauri-wd: cargo install tauri-webdriver-automation --version 0.1.3 --locked
  • Xcode command line tools (swiftc, screencapture)
  • The terminal needs Screen Recording permission for window captures, and Accessibility for real keystrokes via osascript.
  • For databases other than SQLite, start them first (Docker/OrbStack). SQLite needs nothing.

1. Check out and launch

gh pr checkout <N> # or stay on the branch you changed
# optional: test the result of the merge, not the stale PR base
git merge --no-edit origin/main # local only, never push it
bash $SK/scripts/up.sh                  # build + tauri-wd + session (~1-2 min incremental)

up.sh backs up config.json and connections.dev.json (debug builds use the real config dir), builds with pnpm tauri build --debug --no-bundle -- --features e2e-testing, starts tauri-wd on :4444 and opens a session. Rebuild after every branch switch: the frontend is embedded in the binary. SKIP_BUILD=1 reuses the last build.

2. Act, look, verify

Write a snippet and run it from e2e/ (webdriverio resolves from there). The snippet is the body of an async function; return prints:

cat > $RUN_DIR/a.js <<'EOF'
await clickText('Add Connection'); await browser.pause(1200);
return await dump();
EOF
(cd e2e && node .drv-act.mjs $RUN_DIR/sid $RUN_DIR/a.js)
bash $SK/scripts/shot.sh $RUN_DIR/s1.png # then Read the png

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
