pdfkit

pdfkit is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from TalissonVitorino/kmp-ios-skills. It costs 212 tokens per session (3,815 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to displaying, searching, annotating, and filling PDF files in iOS apps with Apple's PDFKit framework. It also covers loading, saving, rendering, forms, and PDF protection.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for statements, receipts, document viewers, PDF forms, annotations, thumbnails, and searches in iPhone or iPad apps.
Why use it?
It helps add PDF features while keeping interface work on the main thread and sensitive files inside protected app storage.

These are SkillSpector’s own severities. On a checked sample its high-severity flags on skills were ~96% false positives — a documented command, a public API, a “never do X” rule — so we show them as a caution to read, not a verdict. Why →

  • high Privilege Escalation · line 93
    Code accesses credential files (SSH keys, AWS credentials, etc.). This could indicate credential theft attempts.
    Fix: Remove references to credential paths. Use environment variables or secrets managers. For docs, use placeholder paths (e.g., /path/to/config). Never load .env or token files in production code paths.
  • medium Tool Misuse · line 15
    Tool defaults are unsafe or overly permissive (e.g. disabled TLS verification, no authentication, world-writable permissions). Unsafe defaults widen the attack surface.
    Fix: Override unsafe defaults with secure settings (verify=True, auth required, restrictive permissions). Review and harden all tool configurations.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00212 $0.03815
Opus 5 $0.00106 $0.01907
Sonnet 5 $0.00042 $0.00763
Haiku 4.5 $0.00021 $0.00381

Security

Grade A, and why

pdfkit scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

PDFKit (iOS)

Render, navigate, annotate, search, and fill PDFs. import PDFKit. iOS 11+; this skill targets the iOS 26 era. PDFKit is UIKit-based — there is no native SwiftUI PDFView, so wrap it with UIViewRepresentable (see swiftui-uikit-interop).

  • Threading: PDFView and all UI live on the main thread. Loading a large PDFDocument, rendering thumbnails, and write(to:) are expensive — run them off the main actor and hand the finished object back to the view.
  • Fintech note: never write account statements/receipts to a world-readable path. Export to an app-sandbox URL and, if it leaves the device or persists, encrypt at rest — see swift-security. PDFKit's own owner/user passwords (below) are AcroForm encryption, not a substitute for file-level protection.

Display in SwiftUI

PDFView is a UIView. Bridge it once and drive it through the document.

        let view = PDFView()
        view.autoScales = true                    // fit-to-width, tracks rotation/resize
        view.displayMode = .singlePageContinuous   // .singlePage | .twoUp | .twoUpContinuous
        view.displayDirection = .vertical          // or .horizontal
        view.usePageViewController(false)          // true = page-curl (iBooks-style)
        return view
    }

    func updateUIView(_ view: PDFView, context: Context) {
        if view.document !== document { view.document = document }
    }

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

pdfkit is a skill published in the GitHub repository TalissonVitorino/kmp-ios-skills (12 stars, last pushed 16d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 212 tokens to every session and 3,815 once invoked, about $0.0011 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
