screen-aware-command

A skill for turning voice or typed instructions plus what is currently visible on screen into commands for coding agents. It describes steps for capturing the screen, recording the instruction, building a command and sending it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Capturing screen context, transcribing or recording an instruction, creating an agent-ready command and routing it to supported agents or tools.
Why use it?
It helps resolve references such as “this error” or “that page” by including the relevant screen context in the agent’s instructions.

One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00000 $0.00376
Opus 5 $0.00000 $0.00188
Sonnet 5 $0.00000 $0.00075
Haiku 4.5 $0.00000 $0.00038

Security

Grade A, and why

screen-aware-command scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Skill: Screen-Aware Command

Purpose

Teach agents how to use ScreenLane to turn voice (or typed instruction) + current screen context into precise agent actions.

When to use

  • User refers to “this”, “that error”, “this page”, “what’s on screen”
  • Visible UI/terminal/docs matter more than chat history alone
  • You need a clean, portable prompt for Codra, Codex, OpenCode, Tera, or MCP tools

Workflow

  1. Capture contextscreenlane_capture or CLI screenlane capture
Prefer explicit text/file/url when screenshots lack OCR.
  2. Capture instructionscreenlane_dictate with --text or transcript.
  3. Build commandscreenlane_command with target (codra/tera/…).
  4. Review safety notes on the command object.
  5. Sendscreenlane_send to clipboard/stdout offline, or live targets if keys exist.

Tool mapping

Step MCP tool CLI
Context screenlane_capture screenlane capture
Voice screenlane_dictate screenlane dictate
Build screenlane_command screenlane command
Route screenlane_send screenlane send

Prompt style

  • Lead with role + intent
  • Include a truncated context block, not a full dump
  • End with concrete requirements and safety constraints

Safety

  • Do not exfiltrate secrets from screen context
  • Prefer minimal fixes over rewrites
  • Confirm destructive intent
  • Local-first: do not require cloud for command construction

Examples

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

screen-aware-command is a skill published in the GitHub repository talocode/screenlane (0 stars, last pushed 23d ago), licensed MIT. It costs nothing until one of its globs matches a file; then it loads 376 tokens. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
