telnyx-iot-java

telnyx-iot-java is a skill for Claude Code from team-telnyx/ai. It costs 41 tokens per session (14,369 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of telnyx-iot-curl, MIT.

A Java SDK guide for managing IoT SIM cards, eSIMs, data plans, and wireless connections through the Telnyx service. It includes setup and error-handling examples.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building machine-to-machine systems that connect devices over mobile networks, or when adding Telnyx IoT connectivity to a Java application.
Why use it?
It gives you ready-to-follow Java examples instead of requiring you to work out the service’s API and failure cases from scratch.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00041 $0.14369
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.07184
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.02874
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.01437

Security

Grade A, and why

telnyx-iot-java scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Telnyx Iot - Java

Installation

<!-- Maven -->
<dependency>
    <groupId>com.telnyx.sdk</groupId>
    <artifactId>telnyx</artifactId>
    <version>6.89.0</version>
</dependency>

// Gradle
implementation("com.telnyx.sdk:telnyx:6.89.0")

Setup

import com.telnyx.sdk.client.TelnyxClient;
import com.telnyx.sdk.client.okhttp.TelnyxOkHttpClient;

TelnyxClient client = TelnyxOkHttpClient.fromEnv();

All examples below assume client is already initialized as shown above.

Error Handling

All API calls can fail with network errors, rate limits (429), validation errors (422), or authentication errors (401). Always handle errors in production code:

import com.telnyx.sdk.errors.TelnyxServiceException;

try {
    var result = client.messages().send(params);
} catch (TelnyxServiceException e) {
    System.err.println("API error " + e.statusCode() + ": " + e.getMessage());
    if (e.statusCode() == 422) {
        System.err.println("Validation error — check required fields and formats");
    } else if (e.statusCode() == 429) {
        // Rate limited — wait and retry with exponential backoff
        Thread.sleep(1000);
    }
}

Common error codes: 401 invalid API key, 403 insufficient permissions, 404 resource not found, 422 validation error (check field formats), 429 rate limited (retry with exponential backoff).

Important Notes

  • Pagination: List methods return a page. Use .autoPager() for automatic iteration: for (var item : page.autoPager()) { ... }. For manual control, use .hasNextPage() and .nextPage().

Purchase eSIMs

Purchases and registers the specified amount of eSIMs to the current user's account.
If sim_card_group_id is provided, the eSIMs will be associated with that group. Otherwise, the default group for the current user will be used.

POST /actions/purchase/esims — Required: amount

Optional: product (string), sim_card_group_id (uuid), status (enum: enabled, disabled, standby), tags (array[string]), whitelabel_name (string)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
