context-restore

context-restore is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from thanh-abaii/gstack-windows-port. It costs 18 tokens per session (10,080 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A skill for restoring the most recently saved coding context. It works with context saved earlier by the related context-saving workflow.

In plain words
What is it for?
Resuming unfinished tasks, recovering saved decisions, and finding where previous work stopped.
Why use it?
It helps an agent continue work after a session, branch, or workspace change without reconstructing the previous state manually.

Skill for Claude CodeCodex

Written for Claude Code and Codex: allowed-tools in frontmatter, but also agents/openai.yaml present. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; names the AskUserQuestion tool.

Good fit Resuming unfinished tasks, recovering saved decisions, and finding where previous work stopped.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00018 $0.10080
Opus 5 $0.00009 $0.05040
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.02016
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.01008

Security

Grade A, and why

context-restore scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 789 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

When to invoke this skill

Loads the most recent saved state (across all branches by default) so you can pick up where you left off — even across Conductor workspace handoffs. Use when asked to "resume", "restore context", "where was I", or "pick up where I left off". Pair with /context-save. Formerly /checkpoint resume — renamed because Claude Code treats /checkpoint as a native rewind alias in current environments.

Preamble (run first)

python "bin/gstack-boot.py" --skill context-restore | iex

Plan Mode Safe Operations

In plan mode, allowed because they inform the plan: $B, $D, codex exec/codex review, writes to $env:USERPROFILE\.gstack/, writes to the plan file, and open for generated artifacts.

Skill Invocation During Plan Mode

If the user invokes a skill in plan mode, the skill takes precedence over generic plan mode behavior. Treat the skill file as executable instructions, not reference. Follow it step by step starting from Step 0; the first AskUserQuestion is the workflow entering plan mode, not a violation of it. AskUserQuestion (any variant — mcp__*__AskUserQuestion or native; see "AskUserQuestion Format → Tool resolution") satisfies plan mode's end-of-turn requirement. If no variant is callable, the skill is BLOCKED — stop and report BLOCKED — AskUserQuestion unavailable per the AskUserQuestion Format rule. At a STOP point, stop immediately. Do not continue the workflow or call ExitPlanMode there. Commands marked "PLAN MODE EXCEPTION — ALWAYS RUN" execute. Call ExitPlanMode only after the skill workflow completes, or if the user tells you to cancel the skill or leave plan mode.

If PROACTIVE is "false", do not auto-invoke or proactively suggest skills. If a skill seems useful, ask: "I think /skillname might help here — want me to run it?"

If SKILL_PREFIX is "true", suggest/invoke /gstack-* names. Disk paths stay $env:USERPROFILE\.claude/skills/gstack/[skill-name]/SKILL.md.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
