health

health is a skill for Claude Code from ThinkfleetAI/memmesh. It costs 54 tokens per session (423 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A diagnostic tool for checking whether MemMesh, a memory service for coding agents, is installed, connected, configured, and able to read and write data.

In plain words
What is it for?
Checking the agent configuration, testing a save-and-search round trip, investigating failed memory operations, and identifying common setup errors.
Why use it?
It helps distinguish a missing setup, invalid key, wrong project scope, empty search, or storage limit from a problem in the application itself.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.00423
Opus 5 $0.00027 $0.00211
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00042

Security

Grade A, and why

health scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

health

Diagnose the MemMesh plugin when something seems off.

1. Wiring

memmesh doctor # binary on PATH, MCP config written, skill present, hooks

If the MCP server isn't listed by the agent, the config didn't take — re-run npx @thinkfleet/memmesh install --force and restart the tool.

2. Read/write round-trip

Prove the engine actually works, end to end:

  1. memory_save a throwaway item (type: "fact", scope: "session", content "memmesh healthcheck <runid>").
  2. memory_search for "healthcheck <runid>" — assert it comes back.
  3. memory_delete (hard) the throwaway so nothing lingers.

If step 1 fails with a cap error, you're at the free-tier 500-item limit — see stats and suggest forget/dream.

3. Common failures

Symptom Likely cause Fix
No MemMesh tools visible MCP config missing memmesh install --force, restart tool
rejected: ... cap free-tier 500 cap hit dream / forget, or upgrade tier
Search always empty wrong projectId scope check switch-project; try userId only
Hosted calls 401 bad/missing MEMMESH_API_KEY re-set key in config.toml

4. Report

State clearly what works and what doesn't — don't claim healthy if the round-trip didn't complete.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

health is a skill published in the GitHub repository ThinkfleetAI/memmesh (441 stars, last pushed 12d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 54 tokens to every session and 423 once invoked, about $0.0003 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
