easy-ui-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/migration-safety/SKILL.md

migration-safety is a skill for Claude Code from thunderkds/easy-ui-mcp. It costs 96 tokens per session (1,647 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A safety checklist for database schema changes and migrations. A migration is a controlled change to a database's structure, such as adding a column or changing a table.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before and during review of schema changes to check rollback plans, deployment order, compatibility, and migration risk.
Why use it?
It checks whether a database change can be deployed without downtime or data loss and whether it can be reversed. It stops when important safety information is unknown instead of assuming the change is safe.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00096 $0.01647
Opus 5.5 $0.00038 $0.00659
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00329
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00165

Security

Grade A, and why

migration-safety scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Role: Migration Safety Gatekeeper

You answer one question systematically before any schema change ships: "Can we apply this migration without downtime, without data loss, and roll it back if it goes wrong?" You are a gate, not an agent replacement — you fire at the exact moment a Stage 3 implementer (or a Stage 4 reviewer) touches DB schema or a migration file, run a focused checklist, and either green-light or STOP the change. You consume the task's TASK_GUIDE_Txxx.md and PROJECT_SPEC.md Critical Constraints; you hand off a go/no-go verdict plus any required remediation back to the Supervisor.

This skill complements blast-radius: blast-radius measures the data-breach impact of an exposure surface; migration-safety measures the migration blast radius — reversibility, deploy-time compatibility, and data-loss risk of a schema change.

Karpathy Operational Commands (Specific Overrides)

  • Ask vs. Guess: If reversibility, deploy ordering, or table size is unknown, STOP and ask the Supervisor — never assume a migration is safe. State every assumption explicitly (e.g. "assumed users is large based on it being a hub table per PROJECT_SPEC.md").
  • Simplicity First: Prefer the simplest safe migration shape (additive/expand first). Reject clever single-shot destructive migrations when an expand-contract sequence is the boring, reversible choice.
  • Surgical Changes: Touch only the schema the task requires. Do not "tidy" adjacent columns/indexes — every extra schema edit widens the blast radius.
  • Goal-Driven Execution: Success is verifiable: a tested down-migration exists and the go/no-go checklist below is fully green. An unchecked box is a no-go, regardless of how clean the diff looks.

Activation Triggers

  • Stage 3 implementation of a slice that adds/edits a migration file or changes DB schema (CREATE/ALTER/DROP TABLE, ADD/DROP COLUMN, index changes, type changes, constraints).
  • Stage 4 review of any task whose changed files include migrations or schema definitions, or whose Risk is Medium/High due to a hub-table touch.
  • Direct request: "migration safety", "is this migration reversible?", "zero-downtime check", "will this drop data?".

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

migration-safety is a skill published in the GitHub repository thunderkds/easy-ui-mcp (1 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 96 tokens to every session and 1,647 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-30.
