docker-workflow

docker-workflow is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from velesnitski/php-agents-boilerplate. It costs 15 tokens per session (579 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Instructions for running Laravel applications and their supporting services in Docker containers. Docker packages an application and its dependencies into isolated environments that can be started together with Docker Compose.

In plain words
What is it for?
Starting and stopping services such as MySQL, Redis, PHP, Nginx, and object storage; running tests and checks; viewing logs; creating database backups; building releases; and deploying to staging.
Why use it?
It makes local setup, testing, backups, logs, and deployment repeatable across environments.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00015 $0.00579
Opus 5 $0.00008 $0.00290
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00116
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00058

Security

Grade A, and why

docker-workflow scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Docker & Deploy

Stack

MySQL 8.0, Redis 7.4, Memcached 1.6, Nginx, PHP-FPM 8.2, PHP CLI 8.2, MinIO (S3), queue workers.

Makefile Commands (preferred entry point)

make init # full setup: clean, build, migrate, seed
make up / down # start/stop containers
make restart # down + up
make test # run all tests
make check # pint + phpstan + config check
make console # bash into PHP CLI
make logs # tail all container logs
make ps # show running containers
make backup-mysql # dump database
make restore-mysql # restore from latest dump
make ssl # generate local SSL certs
make build-release # build + push Docker image
make deploy # deploy to staging via SSH
make deploy-rebuild # build + deploy combined

Key Docker Patterns

  • CLI container uses profiles: [donotstart] – only runs via docker compose run --rm
  • YAML anchors (&env-laravel / <<: *env-laravel) for shared environment vars
  • wait-for-it.sh ensures MySQL is ready before migrations
  • COMPOSE_PROJECT_NAME in .env controls container naming – must match nginx template expectations
  • UID 1000:1000 ownership for storage/vendor/cache – make check-dir-permissions fixes this

Deploy Flow

Pre-deploy: make test → make check → user approval → make build-release
Staging: make deploy (SSH → pull → up → migrate)
Production: artisan down → pull → up → migrate → optimize → restart workers → artisan up
Rollback: artisan down → switch image tag → pull → up → migrate:rollback → artisan up

Post-Deploy Checks

  1. Health endpoint: curl -s http://HOST:PORT/
  2. Error logs: docker compose logs --tail=50 app-php-fpm
  3. Queue processing: docker compose logs app-worker-default
  4. Monitor 2–5 minutes for anomalies

Common Issues

  • 502 Bad Gateway → PHP-FPM down or COMPOSE_PROJECT_NAME mismatch
  • Permission errorsmake check-dir-permissions
  • Stale configphp artisan config:clear inside PHP-FPM container
  • Queue stuckmake restart-queue, verify Redis is running

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

docker-workflow is a skill published in the GitHub repository velesnitski/php-agents-boilerplate (2 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 15 tokens to every session and 579 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
