Self-evolving Context Database for AI Agents. Unify Agent Memory, Knowledge RAG and Skills.
About the project
OpenViking is an open-source context database for AI agents that stores memories, resources, and skills in a browsable virtual filesystem. Agents use it to find and load relevant context in layers while inspecting how retrieval decisions were made.
Recall and persist long-term memory through the OpenViking MCP tools. Use at the start of any substantive task (coding, configuration, debugging, multi-step or tool-based work) to retrieve relevant prior knowledge with find/search/read, and during or after work to persist durable facts, preferences, decisions, and…
Retrieve and apply OpenViking Experience memories through the Agent runtime's generic OpenViking search and read tools. Use before or during executable, multi-step, or tool-based work such as coding, file or data changes, configuration, deployment, workflow execution, and failure recovery when prior operational…
Compile timestamped conversation logs, agent sessions, IM messages, collaborative documents, meeting notes, task records, and similar OpenViking materials into concise, evidence-grounded daily reports. Use with ov compile when the user asks for a daily work report, end-of-day digest, 日报, or reports for one or more…
Compile one or more OpenViking knowledge bases or document collections into topic-organized, evidence-grounded high-level knowledge, including cross-source findings, trends, changes, drivers, comparisons, implications, and uncertainties. Use with ov compile when the user asks to distill or synthesize a knowledge base…
Compile documents, notes, web content, transcripts, research materials, or code repositories into an evidence-grounded, visualization-ready knowledge graph with semantically typed entity nodes, statement-level provenance, and typed relationship edges. Use with ov compile to create or incrementally refresh entities/.md…
Compile heterogeneous knowledge sources—including documents, notes, web content, transcripts, research materials, and code repositories—into a Karpathy-style, evidence-grounded LLM Wiki with a maintained index; default entity and concept pages; and selective method, comparison, analysis, or instruction-requested…
Install and configure the OpenViking long-term memory plugin for OpenClaw via natural conversation. Once installed, the plugin automatically captures facts from chats and recalls relevant context before each reply (auto-capture + auto-recall, cross-session). Covers prerequisites, install through OpenClaw's plugin…
Use OpenViking from OpenClaw through @openviking/openclaw-plugin: long-term memory, session archives, resource and Agent Skill import, semantic recall, recall trace debugging, and externalized tool-result recovery. Prefer this skill when the user wants to use, query, debug, or operate OpenViking context from an…
Load when the user asks to add, import, compile, or ingest a research paper/PDF into OpenViking, especially when they mention ov-add-paper, ARA, claims, evidence, figures, tables, or paper-to-OV knowledge resources.
Search and read documents, repos, URLs, and other resources stored in OpenViking under viking://resources/. Use whenever the user asks about docs, specs, codebases, papers, or notes that were added to OpenViking ("check the docs", "what does our design doc say", "find it in OpenViking"), or when a task needs reference…
Operate and maintain OpenViking server - configure, install, start, stop, and cleanup the server. Use when need to setup or manage OpenViking service deployment.

Load when an agent needs to manage, install, update, remove, or validate OpenViking skills via the ov skills CLI. Trigger on explicit user requests about skill management, when the user mentions ov skills, install skill, update skill, delete skill, validate skill, or when an agent needs to discover what skills are…
Use when the user explicitly types ov dream or ov recall and the request should be routed to the OpenViking sync/recall CLI instead of handled as normal chat.
