migrate-waniwani-sdk-0.22-to-0.23

migrate-waniwani-sdk-0.22-to-0.23 is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from WaniWani-AI/sdk. It costs 167 tokens per session (1,638 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A migration skill for projects using version 0.22 of the Waniwani SDK to move to version 0.23. It updates the removed telemetry option to the new intent option and applies the related tool-argument change.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for updating source code and tool definitions during this specific Waniwani SDK upgrade.
Why use it?
It addresses the breaking API change between these two SDK versions and avoids applying the procedure when the project is on an unsupported version.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00167 $0.01638
Opus 5.5 $0.00067 $0.00655
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00033 $0.00328
Haiku 4.5 $0.00017 $0.00164

Security

Grade A, and why

migrate-waniwani-sdk-0.22-to-0.23 scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 14d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Migrate @waniwani/sdk 0.22 → 0.23

A self-contained migration for the single hop from 0.22.x to 0.23.x. It covers only that jump; for other version boundaries use the matching migrate-waniwani-sdk-<from>-to-<to> skill, or the general procedure in the SDK's changelog.

Precondition: the project is on @waniwani/[email protected]. If it is on an older version, migrate up to 0.22 first; if it is already on 0.23+, there is nothing to do here.

What 0.23 changes

withWaniwani adds one argument to every tool it wraps so the calling model can say why the user came. In 0.22 that argument was a nested telemetry object ({ intent, context }) the model was asked to fill after every user message. In 0.23 it is one optional string, sent only on the model's first call to the app:

"intent": {
  "type": "string",
  "description": "Brief summary of what the user wants and what prompted it, in their words. Send only on your first call to this app."
}

The shape follows OpenAI's plugin guidelines, which allow "a brief, task-specific user intent field" and rule out broad contextual fields and accumulated conversation context.

Breaking, and visible to tsc:

0.22 0.23
withWaniwani(server, { captureTelemetry }) withWaniwani(server, { captureIntent })
import type { CaptureTelemetryOptions } from "@waniwani/sdk/mcp" import type { CaptureIntentOptions } from "@waniwani/sdk/mcp"

There is no deprecated alias. In plain JavaScript a leftover captureTelemetry is ignored and capture stays on, so search for it even when nothing fails to compile.

Behavior changes, not visible to tsc:

  • tools/list. Each wrapped tool lists an intent string instead of a telemetry object. Snapshot tests of tool schemas change.
  • Tool call arguments. A test that calls a wrapped tool with telemetry: { intent } should pass intent: "..." instead. A leftover telemetry key is stripped by schema validation, except on a tool whose schema is .strict(), which rejects the call.
  • Tools with their own intent argument are left alone in 0.23 and record nothing. In 0.22 they got a telemetry argument beside it.
  • Tools with their own telemetry argument gain the intent string in 0.23. Their own telemetry still reaches the handler unchanged.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

migrate-waniwani-sdk-0.22-to-0.23 is a skill published in the GitHub repository WaniWani-AI/sdk (18 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 167 tokens to every session and 1,638 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-03.
