pricing

pricing is a skill for Claude Code from whawkinsiv/solo-founder-skills. It costs 84 tokens per session (2,052 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for deciding what to charge for a product and how to organise its pricing options. It covers pricing tiers, free trials, value metrics, and pricing-page structure.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to set price points, design Free-to-Pro or similar tiers, choose what customers pay for, and plan pricing-page content or price experiments.
Why use it?
It helps remove guesswork when setting prices and presenting upgrade choices to customers.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00084 $0.02052
Opus 5 $0.00042 $0.01026
Sonnet 5 $0.00017 $0.00410
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00205

Security

Grade A, and why

pricing scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Pricing & Monetization

Price is a signal. Too low says "toy." Too high says "enterprise." Your price tells customers who this product is for. This skill helps you choose what to charge, how to structure tiers, and how to build a pricing page that converts.

Core Principles

  • Pricing is a psychology problem, not a math problem.
  • Align price with the value metric — the unit of value your customer receives.
  • Three tiers is the default for a reason: anchoring, self-selection, and upgrade paths.
  • The best pricing is simple to understand and hard to outgrow.
  • Most SaaS companies underprice by 2-3x. Revisit pricing every 6 months.

Workflow

Pricing Setup:
- [ ] Choose your value metric
- [ ] Design tier structure (Free → Pro → Business)
- [ ] Set price points
- [ ] Build the pricing page
- [ ] Plan expansion revenue mechanics

Step 1: Choose Your Value Metric

The value metric is what you charge for. It should be:

  1. Easy to understand: The customer can predict their bill.
  2. Aligned with value: As they get more value, they pay more.
  3. Scalable: It grows with their usage naturally.
SaaS Type Good Value Metric
Collaboration tools Per seat/user
Developer tools API calls, compute time, builds
Marketing tools Contacts, emails sent, campaigns
Analytics Events tracked, data points, queries
Storage/infra GB stored, bandwidth

Bad value metrics: Features-only gating (bloated top tiers), flat pricing (no expansion revenue), complex formulas nobody can predict.

Tell AI:

Help me choose a value metric for my SaaS:
- Product: [what it does]
- Users: [who uses it and how]
- Core value: [what outcome users get]
- Current model: [if any — flat rate, per user, etc.]

Recommend a value metric that's easy for users to understand, scales with the value
they receive, and creates natural expansion revenue. Show 2-3 options with tradeoffs.

Step 2: Design Tier Structure

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

pricing is a skill published in the GitHub repository whawkinsiv/solo-founder-skills (243 stars, last pushed 16d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 84 tokens to every session and 2,052 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
